So I love Rotoworld.com, updates with every team, player, etc… Anyway, I found this today:
Vikings VP of personnel Rick Spielman came away from minicamp raving about sixth-round QB Joe Webb.
Minneapolis Star-Tribune columnist Sid Hartman even goes as far to say that Webb “could be the quarterback of the future.” An athletic freak, Webb threw for over 2,000 yards and rushed for over 1,500 yards last season at UAB. And with Sage Rosenfels apparently being phased out, Webb has a chance. Still, we doubt Webb will ever be strong enough in the passing game to end up as a full-time quarterback.

I have heard a ton about this Webb kid since we drafted him, from him jumping a 6′ tall set-up of bags to taking all the 2nd team reps from our richest QB at camp, Sage. This kid has more physical talent in his pinkie, than most NFL QBs have in their entire body, only problem (like most throughout Chilli’s tenure) he just needs to prove his MENTAL make-up, the thing that separates the Peyton Mannings, Tom Bradys, and Dan Marinos, from say the Daunte Culpeppers (w/o Moss) and the Jamarcus Russels of the world….
So, I’d love to have our QOF on the team, I just hope he has a strong mind, to go with his physical stature.

like the analysis bro!
I just hope he’s not another Tjack. Be interesting to see if he can handle pressure and read a defense, I have my doubts.
You’ll also notice that a lot of this came from Sid Hartman’s decrepit old paw. Grain of salt, much?
I agree…Im very skeptical.
i have to agree. Between now and training camp, Hartman will do a dosier on every rookie the Vikings selected, including some UFAs, and he will proclaim each as “the answer” at their respective positions. Have to be very wary of the over-hype machine that is Sid Hartman, especially this time of year.
Next week he’ll have Chris Degeare as the second coming of Randall McDaniel.
Fred heard Sid on the radio last week, dude is plenty kooky! He really sounded more like Freds 99 year old great grandpa shortly before he began insisting his new doctor was Al Capone. Even at 99 grandpa could still jump over 6 feet of gym matts! Athletic this, athletic that… Freds agrees with Johnny, let’s see something first.
Hey, Happy Fathers Day!
To all you Fathers out there.
Fathers Day is a very special day for Travis Henry who has 11 children from 10 different women
was trying (unsuccessfully) to figure out which Viking had the most kids. Former Viking has five kids, the good lord only knows how many kids Smoot has
Webb could throw a football through a brick wall and jump across the Mississippi river, but it doesn’t do him any good unless he can read a defense
Antonio Cromartie – 7 kids, 6 women, five states
Tiger Woods – 2 kids, but does lots of practicing
Adam Warwas – 1 child -2011, Happy future Fathers Day Adam
thanks Ole!
How about kids from the Ole genepool?
Ole – 1 son, 1 granddaughter, 1 grandson
how about you Johnny?
1 son and one daughter Ole and both teeners. Cant believe I still have hair.
Oles,
What about Shawn Kemp?
Come on now! Do some research!
Henry probably has the richard of the year award on this topic though.
Freds, was trying to keep the topic “football related”
Fathers day in the NBA – most stressful day of the year
for nba, aka ‘Paternity Suit Day’
and the lakers got it done, number 16!!!
sure would be cool if webb was our diamond in the rough
Mickey is the answer at TE, doncha know?
Cals, did you celebrate the championship by setting a car on fire or breaking into a convenience store?
of course i did, freds. and that’s cars and stores, as in bein’ plural, we don’t mess around
“Quarterback of the Future,” takes it a little too far. He had a good day in camp, and he is currently competing for the 3rd spot on the roster. Not to say that he can’t win it, just that a good day in camp is a little early to start making predictions about his future.
Besides, Brett Favre is playing til he is 50
And 50 is the new 40.
Joe Webb seems to be a very nice addition to the Vikings! I think Webb can contribute down the road for Minnesota. For more on Joe Webb, check out the article I wrote.
