July 15th Is A Date To Watch For

Between now and training camp anything can happen.

Also, it is completely possible that between now and training camp absolutely nothing of note happens.  It could be THAT exciting for us around here the next couple of months.

However, keep your eye on the upcoming date of July 15th as the next day which holds some potential for mild excitement.

First, free agent guard Chester Pitts will reportedly be holding a workout for any interested teams with hopes of proving that his knee is fully rehabilitated, and the Vikings are one of five teams reported to be interested in checking him out.

Second, on July 15th the NFL will hold the Supplemental Draft.  This draft has a lot less hype than the real deal, but five players have already thrown their hats in the ring and it’ll be interesting to see if the Vikings pursue one.

The five players expected to be available in the supplemental draft are:

BYU running back Harvey Unga

Northwestern State running back Quentin Castille

Truman State multi-purpose offensive player Vaness Emokpae

Oregon quarterback Jeremiah Masoli

Illinois defensive tackle Joshua Price-Brent

How versatile is Pitts? With Ryan Cook #1 on the depth chart, we could sure use some help to say the least.

The supplemental draft or other wise known as “the bunch of low lifes who got thrown off their college teams and have no where else to turn but to try to jump to the nfl draft.”

Jeremiah Masoli – A wonderful college QB, really he was. Never ever going to be a pro, but a great athlete. So why not another year at Oregon?
** Oregon quarterback Jeremiah Masoli, who had been suspended for the 2010 season after pleading guilty to breaking into a fraternity house, has been been kicked off the team following another arrest.

Masoli was cited for possession of marijuana and driving with a suspended lisence after he was pulled over when he failed to stop when exiting a driveway.

Quentin Castille -Running back Quentin Castille has been dismissed from the Nebraska football program for violating unspecified team rules.

Joshua Price-Brent -Suspended from team after DUI arrest.

Garbage heap. Losers who got into trouble who can’t play in college because they got into trouble. Pros, none of them.

For those non college football fans, here is Masoli from last year. In Freds mind, not a pro prospect, but a very exciting college QB.

Too bad he’s such a richard.
