Good Stuff Going On

Not too long ago I dedicated a post to highlighting the off-field efforts of every member of the Vikings and how much good stuff was happening as a result of having a community-committed franchise, from the owner on down.

This time of year those types of events are in full swing and there are numerous examples that deserve highlighting including Jared Allen’s unconventional golf tournament to provide housing for wounded soldiers, Jon Cooper and Phil Loadholt’s youth football camp, Coach Childress continuing his USO Tour, and the Vikings Ride for Life.

The Vikings official site is a great place to be kept up to date on the positive things our favorite team is doing throughout the world.

HATTIESBURG, Miss. — Brett Favre looks like he’s getting along just fine on that surgically repaired ankle.

Favre worked out with some youngsters at Oak Grove High School in Hattiesburg, Miss., on Monday, then eluded reporters looking to ask him about his future by running to his truck and driving away.

The 40-year-old quarterback has yet to tell the Minnesota Vikings if he will return for a 20th season in the NFL, but many expect him to be back. He had arthroscopic surgery on his left ankle in May and has been throwing to receivers at the high school for a few weeks.

Favre worked out for about an hour, then grinned and waved at reporters as he drove off.

Good morning as well to cart and Mr. Sunshine. And congratulations to Wally, God rest his soul. Nice guy off the field, pretty focused on the field. Running backs were quick to cut back away from Wally’s side on their runs. And I never, and I mean never, saw him taunt, brag, hoot, holler or beat his chest. Just tackle and return to the huddle – that was Wally’s style.

Great choice CC. Wally is one of my alltime favorites. I was pretty young when Wally played but the things coach said about him really caught my eye.
