Vikings Ticket Sales Looking Up, Despite Stadium Woes

On Saturday, the State of Minnesota unveiled a new scratch off lottery game which the Vikings are endorsing.  The proceeds of the game will not be going towards any sort of stadium solution, but perhaps this will open doors for future options.

“Just like all other lottery games, there are state laws in place to where and how the proceeds are dispersed,” a lottery official said. “The proceeds are earmarked to go to critical environmental projects and the state’s general fund. There is no plan in place to have a lottery scratch game that would direct funds to a project like a new stadium.”

Vikings tickets are prizes that can be won in the new game.

Steve LaCroix, the Vikings chief marketing officer, said that the Vikings are expecting a total of 94% of last year’s season ticket holders to renew for this year, and that the Vikings are doing well compared to last year.

“That will put us in that very solid range of where we need to be,” LaCroix said. “We’re much better than we were a year ago.”

Meanwhile, a recent inspection of the Metrodome’s white-bubble roof revealed that the roof should perform well for about another four years, which happens to be about the amount of time it should take to get a new stadium built if an agreement can be reached on that front.
