Injury Updates: Harvin, Griffin, Peterson, Sullivan, & Henderson

The list of injury updates got a bit longer today, but don’t worry, there was nothing majorly negative that happened today.

  • The biggest scare came when Percy Harvin was carted off the field in the morning practice.  He was able to practice in the evening and did not looked to be slowed up at all.  Reports indicate that Harvin tweaked his ankle, which immediately became swollen.  Harvin says he’ll continue to rehab the ankle but that he’ll be fine.
  • Cedric Griffin seems poised for an impressive comeback.  So far he has been working out individually, but he said today that he is hoping to get back to full speed soon.  He also said he was done trying to put timetables on his recovery process.
  • Peterson experienced some “tightening” and we know little else about why he stayed on the sidelines throughout the evening practice.  Most likely, the Vikings used the discomfort as an excuse to rest Peterson and get a better look at their other running back options.
  • John Sullivan limped off the field after being kicked by another lineman.  He did not return to practice but said, “I’m fine,” he said. “I’ll be out there [Sunday].”  Our faithful reader bigjohnny84 was at the practice and recently left a comment saying, “Sully was standing on the sidelines and looked ok.”  Thanks for the update, johnny!
  • E.J. Henderson also took the evening practice off, but the Vikings are just exercising caution with their starting middle linebacker.  Childress says they are “spoon feeding” Henderson in an effort to get him back into shape without being overly aggressive and causing a setback.

Adam, I got a really good look at EJ and he looks great, he looked like he was really chomping at the bit. I’ll bet he starts the Saints game. You are right on AD too, the way he was running around, he’s 100% for sure. And Cheech is just fine also.

johnny, are you behaving yourself in the River Town? Don’t want to hear any “news” about you.

What are your impressions of the rookies? Webb, Cook, Gerhart, etc. Do any look like players?

    • bigjohnny84 says:

Dont worry coach it was a family trip so no troubles. I think Webb might have something. I was watching the qb drills and Webb was the most accurate of the three, he even got a little ovation after one segment. Gerhart looks solid and I think will do well. Didnt really get a good look at Cook and the rest the place was very crowded.

      • B. Grant says:

Thanks johnny – glad you had a good time.

      • bigjohnny84 says:

Coach, with beer at $6 a bottle one has no choice but to behave himself. Do they charge that much for beer to keep guys from drinking too many or just price gouging for max profit?

      • B. Grant says:

Well, either way there’s a pretty good profit in those kind of beer sales, ‘eh johnny? Simple supply and demand. Even worse is the $4 bottle of water waiting for you in a hotel room.

If it is any concern I am experiencing a little tightening as I just returned home from a taste of Dorset and I have eaten to much.
