Camp Breakdown: Day Eight (Afternoon)

On Friday afternoon, the Vikings had a special teams practice which means there isn’t a whole lot of interesting news to report, but there is some.

About 30 players were allowed to skip the practice but Chad Greenway, Ben Leber, Madieu Williams, and Tyrell Johnson all had to practice.  After a relatively short time each of those starters were excused except for Johnson.

Taye Biddle, Asher Allen, Ray Small, Jaymar Johnson, Marcus Sherels, and Lito Sheppard returned punts.

Returning kicks were Jaymar Johnson, Ian Johnson, and Ray Small.  At one point Small muffed a punt pretty badly.

Todd Pinkston was on hand as part of the NFL’s minority coaches program.

Chris Cook just keeps getting the praise piled on.  He was the punt coverage team’s gunner and made two impressive cover ups near the goalline.  On each play, the return man chose to let the ball bounce.

On the kickoff return team, Toby Gerhart was being used as a blocker.

Long snapper Cullen Loeffler had his knee bend the wrong way during practice but was able to return quickly.

Saturday morning, the Vikings will practice in full pads for the second time.
