Camp Breakdown: Day Nine (Evening)

[Editor’s Note:  While I am not going to include every source link, please note that all the sources consist of the sites (and Twitter accounts of their writers) that are featured in our blogroll on the right hand side of this page.]

The Passers

Tarvaris Jackson had a nice touchdown pass to Jaymar Johnson.  Johnson turned around just in time to see the ball hit him in the arms.  On another endzone pass, Jackson threw a pass to Johnson that hit him right in his hands but bounced off and Bernard Berrian was the beneficiary.

The Runners

Fahu Tahi and Darius Reynaud sat out of practice.

Adrian Peterson received a hefty amount of work in 7-on-7 drills after being mostly absent from camp.  He even caught a touchdown pass from Tarvaris Jackson at one point.

The Pass Catchers

Sidney Rice and Percy Harvin were not practicing yet again.  Harvin is expected to return on Monday.  For some reason, Visanthe Shiancoe was not at practice.

Garrett Mills made a nice 20 yard catch against Madieu Williams on the first play of the practice.  It was a decent pass from Jackson.

Logan Payne continued to overachieve when he slid between Lito Sheppard and Benny Sapp for a touchdown grab thrown by Rosenfels.  Later, Payne caught another touchdown against Sheppard, this time on a slant route.  While Payne had another good night, he did drop an endzone catch late ron in practice.

Berrian ended practice by making a fingertip catch.

The Blockers

Anthony Herrera did not practice after injuring himself this morning.  He was replaced by Chris DeGeare on the starting O-Line.  John  Sullivan was also absent again, with Jon Cooper taking his place.

The Front Four

Fred Evans got some work as the first team nose tackle today.  Letroy Guion also got some time with the first defense.

The Linebackers

J Leman, Nate Triplett and EJ Henderson did not practice.

The Secondary

Cedric Griffin remains sidelined.  Asher Allen opened up practice as the right corner on the first defense.

Marcus Sherels made a nice pass breakup in the endzone on a pass intended for Logan Payne.

Husain Abdullah made another nice play to add to a strong camp for him when he outplayed the bigger and stronger Mickey Shuler.  Shuler had a touchdown grab in his hands in the corner of the endzone, but Abdullah was able to knock the ball out of his hands before the touchdown could be made.

The quarterbacks picked on Lito Sheppard all game, as you can see from the notes above, and he ultimately was responsible for giving up three touchdowns.  He was working primarily with the second team.

The Special Teams

Marcus Sherels, Lito Sheppard, and Ray Small worked on punt returns.
