Weekend Discussion: Thinking ‘What If’

On a weekend when the Vikings are going to make at least 22 roster moves and will have plenty of speculation about trades, cuts, and pickups surrounding them, I thought it would be fun to think about some fairly recent near-misses.

I have two big “what if” scenarios to pose for you:

 1.  Over a year ago, the Vikings were among the leaders to acquire quarterback Jay Cutler from the Broncos.  If they had done that, then surely they wouldn’t have Brett Favre on the roster right now, but how optimistic would we be about this team if they had traded for Cutler?

 2.  Over a year ago, the Vikings tried their hardest to reel in free agent receiver T.J. Houshmandzedah but lost out to Seattle.  It is common theory that the Vikings would not have drafted Percy Harvin had they signed Housh, and I’m curious how you think that would have affected our 2010 chances.

A little rewind action for this “Weekend Discussion” feature.  Have at it.
