Vikings back in the mix for Chargers WR Jackson?

One would have to think after watching week one it’s advantage Vincent Jackson of the Chargers after he watched his team lose to the Chiefs on Monday night in KC.

It doesn’t appear to be the case, as reports continue to surface about Jackson being dangled out there to other teams, and the latest is again the Vikings. According John Czarnecki of FOX Sports’ reported the Vikings are poised to offer “a high draft pick” for Jackson.

Czarnecki also thinks the Rams may re-enter talks for Jackson, as they need help at the wide out spot. There’s no progress being made between the Chargers and Jackson, and a trade seems like their best bet to try and get something out of the services of the wide out.

Both the Vikings and Rams could use a receiver, as Minnesota is without Sidney Rice and there’s still lingering issues with headaches for Percy Harvin.

The Rams need firepower on offense, and despite the solid day that Mark Clayton had in the opener, putting a player like Jackson in that offense would do wonders for a team that needs help at the wide out spot.

Totally unrelated, but did anyone see the little blurb on PFT from T.O.?

    Here it is:

“This week, Owens… point[ed] to the perceived lack of criticism regarding Favre’s “mistakes” in week one. Owens believes that if he or Ochocinco had skipped camp and made mistakes in week one, they would have faced greater criticism.

When it comes to us we’re held to another standard which is not in a positive light when it comes to the media, so I think… when it comes to skin color I think it does have something to do with it, Owens said.”

If Owens had legitimately passed middle school grammar we might be able to understand what he’s saying. But I think it boils down to, “Brett Favre is white so he won’t get called out for skipping like us black folk would.” Are you kidding me? Stick to talking trash, T.O., and leave the “racist media” argument to professors and sociologists.

From PFT, “A trade has to happen between Friday and Wednesday or any interested team loses out on two possible games from Jackson”

Charger control situation because VJ can only negotiate w/ team that Charger will deal him to.

Looking ahead to tough Viking schedule you would think it would pay dividends to have a Koren II

Can’t believe Martz would be happy having Vincent Jackson sign w/ Viking for a 2nd or 3rd. Where’s the Bear in all this?

    • Norseman66 says:

Hell, I wouldn’t be happy if he came to the Vikings either for a 2nd or 3rd round pick. He would be just a rental. He’s got 2 DUI’s and tons of Diva in him.

    Matt or Adam:

Can Vincent Jackson practice once the trade is completed?

  5. Lost Viking says:

Don’t think it is realistic to expect anything less than a 3rd rounder. Consider the Charger have Malcolm Floyd out running around the field impersonating a 2nd receiver. Awful.

Charger doesn’t care about length or breadth of contract. Vincent Jackson, RFA is being sold as ‘buyer beware’ to highest bidder. (Quick – name three star receivers w/o bag tag)

Presumably, the franchise signing Jackson will offer a longer term contract but one that can be voided if he ends up in suspension. Vike experimented w/ Jared Allen. Isn’t this a the parallel? Unless VJ has told teams he just wants a one year to FA in 2011….He’s rumoured to have already negotiated Vike contract.

  6. Lost Viking says:

Jackson would be eligible to practice during the Viking bye week after the third game and in the week prior to Viking game against the Jet in Week 5. He could not, however, play against the Jet.

He would be eligible for week six though meaning he could play 12 regular season games. The buzz is a 3rd which could be upped to 2nd IF VJ signs on beyond one year

if it ends up being that the fo is thinking this is all for a short term fix, i’ll be pizzed. in that case, we should’ve tried housh for $850k and then kicked his azz to the curb. not the best fit, but we coulda used him right away and he was cheap

i’m in so cal, but i don’t follow the chargers, so i don’t know if vj’s worth it, but if he is, sign him and keep him if he’s gonna cost us draft picks, and get rid of berrian
