Cook Sits While Others Get Back To It

BREAKING NEWS:  The Vikings will play football this week.

I know, I know, I’m just as guilty as everyone else when it comes to covering Randy Moss 99.9% of the time this week.  However, we can’t forget that there is a game to be played on Monday Night and that there are 52 other guys on this team.

For starters, I want to note that the Vikings filled Logan Payne’s spot on the practice squad by signing offensive lineman Andrew Gardner.

In today’s practice, both Visanthe Shiancoe (hamstring) and John Sullivan (calf) were able to get back on the practice field, but both were also limited.  Brett Favre (ankle/elbow) and Bryant McKinnie (finger) were both listed on Thursday’s injury report, but were able to participate fully.

The bad news, however, is that rookie cornerback Chris Cook surprisingly sat out of practice which is reportedly due to the same knee injury that kept him out of the first two games of the season.

For the Jets, DE Shaun Ellis (knee), T Wayne Hunter (shin), C Nick Mangold (shoulder), CB Darrelle Revis (hamstring) and LB Jamaal Westerman (ankle) were limited.

RB John Conner (neck), LB Calvin Pace (foot) and LB Jason Taylor (elbow) were full participants in Thursday’s practice.

The Jets will also be getting Santonio Holmes into his first game as a Jet after he served his four game suspension, which is just one more reason that us Vikings fans would like to see Chris Cook healthy enough to play well by Monday.

I love the little twist that Billicek trades Moss to the Vikes just before the Jets game. Not sure there is enough time for Moss to have a major impact yet Monday, but wouldn’t it make Bill chuckle if RM catches a TD to beat the Jets.
