Ryan Cook Likely To Start

On Saturday, Brad Childress said that John Sullivan continued to rehab his calf injury and is making progress.  Childress also said that Sullivan would likely make the trip to New York with the team, but it sounds doubtful that he’ll be able to play.

“He’s pushing through some stuff here,” Childress said. “I think we’re going to bring him with us and see if he gets two days better. He’s taking limited turns here. We need to roll all those guys just because we don’t know what’s going to occur but he’s improving.”

As I pointed out last week, I thought Cook did a pretty good job filling in for Sullivan against the Lions two weeks ago.  I suggested that Cook might now be in competition for Sullivan’s starting job, especially if he gets another chance to play and plays well.

From the sounds of it, Cook might get that chance this week against the Jets.

The Vikings injury report: CB Cook (knee), out; C Sullivan (calf), questionable; TE Visanthe Shiancoe (hamstring), probable; LT Bryant McKinnie (finger), probable; QB Favre (ankle, right elbow) probable.
