Center Position Still Up For Grabs

“I don’t know.  I have no idea. I wish I had answers for you.”

That is what last week’s starting center Ryan Cook said when asked why he was pulled out of the game at halftime and replaced by second year undrafted player, Jon Cooper.  Cook says he has yet to receive an explanation from the coaching staff.

Brad Childress was not shy about giving the media an explanation, however, as he has said that some missed protection adjustments led to his benching.

Jon Cooper on the other hand is hoping to take advantage of the possibility of getting the start on Sunday against the Cowboys by proving himself as a reliable option.

“It feels good,” said Cooper. “That’s what you wait for as a player, is to get your chance. I’ve been waiting for and I’m glad I got to play, and hopefully, I’ll take advantage of my opportunity.”

The regular starting center, John Sullivan, continues to be hampered by a calf injury.  At this point, it isn’t clear if he would even reclaim his starting position when he is healthy enough.
