Rice: “A Bunch Of Bull”

In the post below this one, we pointed out some speculation from the boys at Access Vikings that Sidney Rice may let his uncertain contractual future get in the way of returning to football in 2010.

Today, Rice took to his blog to let you all know it is a “bunch of bull.”  Here is his entire post:

I’m just about to head out to the practice field and see how I’m feeling and everything. A lot of people are wondering what happened on Sunday, why I didn’t play. Ultimately, it came down to how I felt at the end of the week. I went pretty hard in practice Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and I was feeling significant discomfort Friday and Saturday when I woke up.

So I decided not to go out there and risk getting hurt or, in my eyes, hurting the team by playing before I was ready and taking away from the team by not getting healthy.

Someone out here wrote a column today saying that I wasn’t going to come back and talked about how it related to my contract situation. But you can ask any of the news people around here, not once have I spoken about a contract or wanted money. My objective is to get out on the field and play when I’m healthy and it has nothing to do with my contract.

If you know anything about the CBA, if the contract doesn’t get done I still have to be here two more years anyway, so what’s going on now is definitely not about my contract.

That’s a bunch of bull. I wouldn’t dare do the fans or my teammates like that.

Times like these, some news people just need stories to create and I guess me not getting back on the field yet is something they want to use.

I just want you fans to know that the surgery I had was very serious. It’s not like I’m coming back from a pulled hamstring and can run back out there. There’s way more to it than that. Believe me when I tell you I’m pushing to get back on the field.

I’m anxious to get out there today and I look forward to Saturday to see how I feel after a hard week of practice. When I wake up hopefully everything will be alright and I’ll be ready to go on Sunday.

My plan is to go. But it will come down to a Saturday decision.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. Didn’t want to believe the stories were true.

sweet…wait a minute… was this a positive post?!?…haven’t had one of those with the word Vikings in it in a long long time…remember when we were 13-4 in the NFC championship….its seems like a time that was so long long ago

    • Adam Warwas says:

two posts down is another “positive” post.

      • Jon says:

I should of used “good news” instead of post :p.

        *side note*

They had the hail mary pass the vikings made to clinch the NFC north in the last game of the regular season against the browns in 1980 I think it was.

I have a feeling that’s how this season it going to end :)

It was the second to last game of 1980 regular season.
It clinched the division. We lost to the Oilers (RIP) the next week.

yup that’s it! Was before my time. But I can’t tell if that lateral was intentional or if it bounched of the guys chest haha. either way it must of been amazing to watch. and our season will end the same way this season 10-6, to clinch the north last game against the Lions!

          • B. Grant says:

Cart & Jon, we trailed by one because Rick Danmier had missed the extra point on what we thought was the tying touchdown a few minutes earlier. My buddy jumped up and hit his head on a beam in my basement when Rashad caught that pass – guy almost passed out and I didn’t know whether to celebrate or call an ambulance. (He lived.) LOVED THOSE UNIFORMS!

          • Jon says:

hahahah b.grant! thats awesome!! LOL. better remove those beams, and get em ready for this season, gonna be a lot of jumping and hollerin towards the end of this season. we’ll just pretend we’re 0-0 starting now. lol

Talk is cheap. I’ll believe Sid until I see otherwise. The media is what they are. They have a job to do, sometimes that job requires speculation.
It would be nice to have him out there, anything to get this offense ontrack to getting in the endzone alot more.
I believe we can beat the Pack sunday. But gonna have to score 27+.

    • Jon says:

I hope the defense is more hungry than the offense. I want to see a shut out or close to it, like how we did the Cowboys in the playoffs last year. I’d be happier to see a performance like that from the defense, than 59 points from the offense.

Looks like old Pudd and Chippy really put their feet in their mouths this time. This would be funny if it wasnt so sad. I apologize to Mr. Rice for even considering that report to be true.

  5. B. Grant says:

I used to say there are two sides to every story. I have changed that to “three sides to every story”. The two sides we have always recognized and the side reported by a growing number of speculating reporters.

(To your credit Adam, you reported it entirely as coming from another source which you identified, and that it was 100% speculation. Thank you.)

    • Adam Warwas says:

I do my best to seperate facts from speculation but it is becomming increasingly difficult. I always link to a source, and if it is speculation then typically it will have a question mark in the headline and say specifically that it is speculation. I’m Glad to have gotten this one right, and apologize for any past transgressions in this regard. With Favre, Moss, Chili, and a gaggle of reporters/bloggers… the truth is never easy to find as you all know.

      • Adam Warwas says:

And I am not one to shy away from speculation of my own, but always clearly state it as such.

        • Adam Warwas says:

I would say Judd and Chip were in a gray area at best on this one, especially in the written version of their article. They can cry “speculation” all they want, but the article Rice is referring to does a poor job of presenting it in a manner that clearly seperates fact from speculation.

AMEN!!!!! I truly belive he will be a spark to the team. While not 1 person makes a team better I believe he will help others around him play more energized and determined. While I have alot of respect for Moss, he did not seem like he would go all out to get the ball sometimes. Rice will do just that, if he plays close to his potential from last season he always went all out to get the ball!! Heres hoping for the best!!!

  8. CalVkg says:

i hope he plays. there will be no excuses then, everyone will be back. we’ll pick right up from where we were last season and win the super bowl. Eva Longoria will be available and ron gardenhire will win manager of the year

    yeah, right
