Vikings Aren’t Out Yet

Plenty of media outlets, fans, analysts, and maybe even some players are counting the Vikings out of the playoff hunt.  There are plenty of negative aspects of the 27-13 loss that sent the Vikings to a 3-6 record to discuss at length, and I plan to partake shortly. However, facts are facts. And the fact [...]

Childress Is Still Safe

Another loss in the 2010 season will do little to calm the masses that are calling for head coach Brad Childress to be fired. Zygi Wilf has no intentions of firing Childress right now, however. Ed Werder says that he talked to the Vikings owner and “is not considering” firing Childress.

Fourth Quarter Implosion Ensures Vikings Loss

Slippery field conditions caused two fourth quarter interceptions, giving the Vikings no chance for another heroic comeback win.  They lost 27-13. The Vikings now move to three games behind both the Bears and the Packers with only seven games left to make up the difference. Next week is the Packers coming to the Metrodome.

Third Quarter Recap

The opening kickoff took a Chicago bounce and on second down Brett Favre had a deflected pass picked off.  After an awesome run stop from Pat Williams, Cutler barely missed a touchdown throw to Earl Bennet.  On third down, Cutler used his feet to escape the pass rush again, but this time he threw the [...]

Second Quarter Recap

To start the beginning of the second quarter, with the Vikings inside Chicago’s 30, the Vikings decided to give them a heavy dose of Toby Gerhart.  After one nice run, the drive fizzled out with an intentional grounding call on third down with Favre under heavy pressure.  Ryan Longwell’s field goal attempt was backed up [...]

First Quarter Recap

The Vikings elected to kick after the Bears deferred, which played to the Vikings advantage in the first quarter as they kicked off with the wind at their back.  The first kick sailed over Devin Hester’s head for a touchback.  On that drive, the Bears were able to push across the 50 yard line, but [...]

OPEN THREAD: The Latest “Must Win”

The Vikings face off against the Bears in their house today. Win could affect the kicking game.  Bryant McKinnie goes head to head with his nemisis, Julius Peppers.  Hobbled receivers Percy Harvin and Bernard Berrian are on the field but Sidney Rice is not.  Rookie Chris Cook will be the starting corner. All sorts of [...]

Today’s Inactives

Both Bernard Berrian (groin) and Percy Harvin (migraine/ankle) will be active against the Bears. Asher Allen, Albert Young, Erin Henderson, Chris DeGeare, Jamarca Sanford, and Jimmy Kennedy are all inactive. Joe Webb is inactive as the third quarterback.

Weather Forecast

Sunday’s game in the Windy City might be, well, windy. The forecast at Soldier Field, where the Vikings need to win another game to stay in the NFC North race, calls for temperatures in the forties with gusts of wind up to 30 miles per hour. It will be cloudy, but rain does not seem [...]
