Winfield Honored For Outstanding Performance

I remember watching the NFLN’s Top 100 Players special and hearing Jon Gruden go out of his way to single out one game that Derrick Brooks did something nobody else could… completely shut down Michael Vick.

Yesterday, we saw Antoine Winfield have arguably an even better game against a supposedly much improved Vick on his way to nine tackles, two sacks, and an impressive strip, recover, score play.  He has won the NFC defensive player of the week award for the performance.

Winfield obviously still has plenty of gas left in the tank and will hopefully be just as enjoyable to watch over the next couple of years.

Congats to Antoine. It’s about damn time they started puting him in position to make plays. Adam’s spot on with playing him in the slot.

Cover passes? Never was very good, has digressed badly. Attack the ball and tackle? Hasn’t missed a beat. Is a move to SS in the stars for AW?

I would have to say for me Winfield has been my favorite player over the years. Nothing against AP or some of the other standouts, he is just one heck of a player! I am looking forward to seeing him have a great end to his career after the next few seasons. The best way to help him stay around longer and play at a high level is to move him to the nickel spot, not sure obout SS but can’t do any worse than the guys we have now.
