And So It Begins – Would Favre Haunt Everyone With Another Comeback?

Yes, the one name that simply won’t go away has reared its ugly head again.

Brett Favre.

According to NFL.com analyst Gil Brandt, he thinks that Favre might be considering another comeback for a 21st NFL season.

“I do think Favre would be interested in talking to a team about returning,” Brandt wrote in an NFL.com chat Tuesday. “But I don’t see a team out there right now that would bring him back as a starter.”

Brandt, who was the former vice president of player personnel for the Cowboys, hasn’t worked in an NFL front office for more than 20 years but he remains very well-connected in league circles.

It was just two seasons ago that Favre was a careless pick away from leading the Vikings to the Super Bowl against the Colts, but it was that pick along with some other key mistakes that cost the Vikings the NFC Title game in New Orleans losing 31-28.

If Favre did indeed come back, he would be doing it coming off the worst season of his NFL career, posting his fewest passing yards (2,509), TD throws (11) andlowest QB rating (69.9) as a starter while losing his streak of consecutive regular-season starts (297) just shy of 300 due to various injuries.

So would the Vikings let him come back to try and go out on a winner? He could be a mentor to first-round QB Christian Ponder, but remember how that went when in Green Bay with Aaron Rodgers? Needless to say if Favre is on a roster, he is going to want to play – pure and simple.

“Brett is still a good quarterback, but I’d consider him a descending quarterback,” Brandt wrote. “It’s awfully hard for him to go to a team and be a backup. The Vikings must start Christian Ponder this season to get him some experience. And they’re not going to get Favre in there to babysit Ponder.”

Meaning if grey beard returns, it won’t be with the Vikings.

Yeah, well…. The only place he would fit is the Vikings, and with Rice back, and all that Sterger bs over, they could do it. And that’s how me and those guys like Favre think. Now, if we can get Zygi and Frazier…could be tough. It would be in the Vikings best interest, by far. It’s way more publicity then they’ll get otherwise, and a better chance to win. Only problem is Brett’s check. Big problem.

I dont believe he will be with the Vikings if he comes out of retirement ~ But I have been wrong once in my life(<<<< LOL) so who knows ~

If he did want to he would have to sign on the cheap because of AP~Rice~Edwards~Leber may all need to be resigned because of the lockout the Vikings have had no time to get their replacements ready ~ Edwards would be the most likely to leave IMHO along with Pat ~

The above players should be far more important than Favre at his age if he want another big contract ~ But if he came back for cheap by his standards who knows ~

I hope not because this looks like the start of a rebuilding season unless the Vikings make a big splash in FA and the young guys step up ~ Still I dont see how they could spend another 10+ million on Favre ~
