Vikings interested in DT Anthony Adams?

According to Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun Times the Vikings have interest in Bears free agent DT Anthony Adams.

Jensen posted this on twitter:

Here’s some intrigue: one team interested in #Bears DT Anthony Adams? Minnesota Vikings. He would be good complement to Kevin Williams

Adams is 6 foot, 310 lbs and would more than likely fill the void left by Pat Williams. I know the Vikings and Pat have put a return at 50/50 but I doubt they’ll bring him back with a 4 game suspension looming. Adams would be a great replacement and help improve a declining run defense.

Dan Zinski from The Vikings Age raised the question if this rumor is true, have the Vikings had enough of Jimmy Kennedy? He’s slated to make 2.5 million this year and could end up being released if someone like Adams is signed.

Will be interesting to see how active the Vikings will be and how well they can work the salary cap this year.

Was searching for that link than I seen you posted it lol, let’s hope the rest of them don’t come true!

What next in Adam’s predictions, Sproles to the Vikes?

    • B. Grant says:

Makes you wonder why one would read anything related to the Vikes ANYWHERE other than the Gab! I know I don’t – its ALL right here. Good work (again) Warwas!

If only they had Twinkie news, it’d be perfect, huh Coach?

        • B. Grant says:

Not true, Tomb. I’m not much of a Hostess products guy. Too many carbs. But I am always looking for updates on the Twins.

          • Tomb... says:

Well I’d be HAPPY to help out my old friend with Twins news!

The Twins are currently rockin’ a 47-54 record. But do not worry! Plenty of time to turn it around, as there should be around 462 games left before season’s end, give or take.

            Keep the faith!

            Sid? Is that you?

Tomb, I am always a bit suspicious about someone who can’t appreciate the game of baseball. You’re dangerously close to being thrown out of the soup line. Watch yourself!

Glad neither of those types hang out around here.

  1. OptimusPrime says:

Why do people keep saying we are over the cap but on other various websites we are under with about 108 million which is 12 under the 120 million dollar limit. That and we have so many free agents well over 10 I believe and Favre’s contract expired so I really never seen how we would be over the cap. Anyone have any ideas or knowledge of this?

  2. OptimusPrime says:

we have 21 free agents which should of cleared about 45 -50 million give or take in cap space??

    • Randy Perrin says:

Hey Optimus, the 21 FA don’t count as part of this years cap because they do not have contracts yet. I believe the 108 million on various sites doesn’t include RFA and Franchise tags which put the Vikings over the salary cap.

  3. Lost Viking says:

Viking are one of seven teams over the new salary cap so there is reason for concern regarding signing room in Free Agency.

There is still uncertainty about the 2011 and teams guaranteed spend. Teams will be required to put up at least 89 percent of their salary cap in cash. However, this system will not start start until 2013 according to NFL. And although the guaranteed spend was supposed to be 87.6% of 112 million last year some teams have spent as little as $ 60 to $ 70 million in straight cash.

When Favre retired all remaining bonus was applied to the salary cap for the current season. Don’t know Favre’s number against 2011.

Today, Coach Frazier stated Viking were in much better position regarding Salary Cap than people realized. Salary cap for 2011 won’t be calculated until early August so lets go with Leslie’s optimism for now.
