Ryan Cook Has Been Re-Signed

One day after releasing left tackle Bryant McKinnie, the Vikings have decided to re-sign a familiar face, according to Judd Zulgad.

Ryan Cook seemed much more valuable as a utility reserve than he ever did as a starter.

Details of the deal are not yet known but I imagine Cook has re-signed with the Vikings for a short-term veteran’s minimum deal, which will not be a bad price to pay for an experienced lineman that provides plenty of insurance.

UPDATE:  It is a two year contract.

Well that will be a R-E-L-I-E-F. Especially to other players because he’s been blocking in Winter Park parking lot all week.

“Ryan Cook seemed much more valuable as a utility reserve than he ever did as a starter.” = Cook is more valuable when he doesn’t play. Never a more accurate comment has been made in this here blogs.

the bonus’ of signing Ryan Cook

    he doesn’t weigh 400 lbs
his cholesterol count is less than 600
his last name is not McKinnie
never been arrested for beating someone outside of a nightclub
doesn’t dump $10,000 bottles of champagne out on the ground
he doesn’t cost much to have on the roster
he will never skip out of a Pro Bowl practice
the locker room will smell better
the parking lot at Winter Park will finally be free of blockage
Freds will be eating his words when AP gets 3,000 yds behind Dugan & Cook

    Q&A w/ Matt Williamson-ESPN

    Q. Does Malcolm. Floyd to the Vike make sense?
    A. Some, but I really think his best spot is SD. He needs to go deep. Not sure how much Minny will do that with their suspect OL. But there is a big need at WR right now. Still, I think Floyd is a bit overrated. Decent player-but product of his SD enviroment

    Q. Do you see McKinnie landing anywhere? Hated the guy in Minny as his work ethic is miserable, but I am sure a team will take a stab at him
    A. He will land somewhere for sure. He isn’t a terrible player. Could be better, but he isn’t terrible.

Good signing ~ And his plays hasn’t been as bad as Loadholt’s at RT ~ Fact is Loadholt is said the be in great shape and he could wind up at LT before all is said and done were he playing in college ~ Some guys just dont make the move from left to right or right to left ~ It’s just not in their DNA ~ Some guys can ~ Cook was drafted to play RT either ~ He was drafted as a replacement for Birk ~ Hopefully the new OL coach will give him a chance to win that job this year ~ He cant be any worse than Sullivan ~ Just remember when you hate on Cook it’s because he was being used impropriety ~ I hope at the least he pushes the centers to play to a higher level ~

  6. Vikadan11 says:

Frazier said the Vikings also were considering experimenting with Phil Loadholt, the starting right tackle, who last played left tackle in 2007 at Oklahoma.

“I’d be ready to do it,” Loadholt said. “Wherever they tell me to go, I’ll be there.”

Great to hear loadholt is in great shape, he was really disappointing last year. If he made a solid transition to left tackle and johnson can go to right tackle that would be good.
