Herrera off PUP list

OG Anthony Herrera was taken off of the PUP(Physically Unable to Perform) list today. Herrera took part in group installation drills according to Judd Zulgad. Frazier stated that they didn’t expect Herrera on the field until next week and is ahead of schedule. He also wouldn’t rule out Herrera for next weeks pre-season game versus Seattle.

Randy, has he gotten any work in at all? If not Frazier might be a little overoptomistic.

  2. Randy Perrin says:

He went through the jogthru but it’s unlikely he’ll play Saturday and if he does it will only be a series.

Do you think he ends up starting at RG or does one of the young guns take his spot?

      • Randy Perrin says:

I know there giving a lot of different people some looks at RG but I think it’s going to come down to Herrera or DeGeare. I think the Vikes would like DeGeare to win it based on age and locking down the RG spot for the future but he’s struggled a bit in camp and graded out OK last Saturday. Well see how well Herrera comes back after the injury.

Fair enough. Someone needs to step it up on that awful o-line geez!

I would like to see them give Herrera some reps at center…He played there some in 2009 and I think they should let him push Sullivan. Also wouldn’t count out Ryan Cook at RG even though I think he’s more valuable as a back up T/G

Do they publish grades? What was his grade?

Herrera was fine at right OG until Chilly let Birk leave and Loadholt replaced Cook at RT ~ Sense that happen many have been calling for Herrera head ~ Who knows not that Loadholt has shown up in the best shape of his life and worked with a leverage coach this offseason maybe he wil be just fine at right OG once again if the Vikings can find a center who is capable ~ Just a thought ~

  4. bigjohnny84 says:

Hell I would give Cook a shot at center, his natural position btw. It would be harder for him to get false start penalties from there.

With Steeler down two Left Tackles in past two weeks how long before Mike Tomlin picks up the phone and dials Bryant McKinnie’s number.

“Bryant, have you shed those 5 lbs yet?”
