The Vikings and OLB Chad Greenway have agreed to an extension according to multiple sources.

Contract details haven’t been released but will update when they become available.

Great to see Greenway in purple for years to come, now up next…Adrian Peterson.

UPDATE: Greenways deal is 5 years, 41 Million with 20 Guaranteed.

Extending Greenways contract helps Viking free up cap space. Viking weren’t required to be in compliance with the cap until season starts.

Like every other team the salary cap impacts the composition of the final roster. Rob Brzezinski is as good as it gets at manipulating the cap.

As Mike Wobshall at points out – we have to be patient on contract extensions. There is more to it than most people think. There is a lot of negotiation that goes into it as well as a lot of research and paperwork. It may be that demands of finalizing roster just pushed this decision back.

I think most importantly now that Greenway is signed, if they can’t get something worked out with Peterson this year, they can use the franchise tag on him next year and not risk losing Greenway.

This is a good deal all the way around ~ Now if they can get Perteron done ~ The Vikings are going to miss Edwards if Robison is counted on to be the starter ~ I’m hoping one of the young guys can sep up to replace him ~

Why so done Robeson? Dude makes plays everytime he’s on the field . I don’t get all the hate for Robeson and Gerhardt but it’s only fair to let them fail before you condemn them.

This should give Vikes at least 2 million in cap space and maybe more if the contract is back loaded.
