WR Bernard Berrian Inactive For Today’s Game

It looks like Vikings WR Bernard Berrian will be deactivated for today’s game. Details have not been disclosed whether it is injury related or not, but WR Greg Camarillo is reportedly practicing in his pre-game warmups, so it looks like Camarillo will be active in today’s game in place of Berrian.

One key inactive player I’d like to add is CB Antoine Winfield. Missed a lot of practices this week due to injury, so no surprise here, but Chris Cook will have his hands full trying to contain All-Pro Wideout Larry Fitzgerald.

    Hallelujah!

  2. CalVkg says:

it’s medical, cardiac lackadackitis – at first the doc thought his stethescope was broken, but then they took an x-ray, they found that he had no heart

  3. hookem says:

Just cut him and activate Arceneaux from the practice squad…. they need to see what he can do in live games if not he might get picked by another team soon

  4. bisatc says:

They lifted his skirt, discovered he really wasn’t a man. This is the spark this team needed, a reminder that nobody’s spot is guaranteed.

  5. hookem says:

Also this will be another big test for Chris Cook

    week 1- Vincent Jackson
    week 2- Mike Williams
    week 3- Calvin Johnson
    week 4- Dwayne Bowe
    week 5- Larry Fitzgerald

please name a CB who has had a tougher first 5 weeks

This is one of the few things that I like about the new coaching staff so far: They aren’t afraid to send a message to veteran players.

Vikings deactivate Bernard Berrian amid Twitter controversy

Possibly a punishment for questioning his role in the offense on Twitter and debating about it with a state lawmaker, the Vikings have benched wide receiver Bernard Berrian for today’s game against Arizona.

Berrian is on the seven-man inactive list along with Pro Bowl cornerback Antoine Winfield, who is nursing a neck injury. Also inactive are safety Mistral Raymond, linebacker Xavier Adibi, center Brandon Fusco, offensive tackle DeMarcus Love and defensive end D’Aundre Reed.

Receiver Michael Jenkins and cornerback Chris Cook started in place of Berrian and Winfield. Adrian Peterson scored three touchdowns in the first quarter as the Vikings went on to dominate the first half. The Vikings lead 34-17 in the fourth quarter.

possible Berrian is injured, but his benching is likely an byproduct of his comments after Sunday’s 22-17 loss to the Chiefs in Kansas City.

After catching one pass for 20 yards, Berrian responded to a tweet that the receiver had been fwide open at least 5 times….starting the “#getBTwicetherockCampaign enough is enough.” Berrian’s response was that it has “been like that the last 4 yrs.” Kriesel jumped in on his Twitter account to write, “If you want to follow a hilarious twitter account, try @B–Twice (Bernard Berrian) who says that he’s open a lot and should get the ball more.” Berrian responded, “Anytime u wanna watch the film with me. Not just one game but all of them … and if not sit down n shut up!!” Kriesel, who lost both his legs in 2006 while serving in Iraq with the Minnesota National Guard, didn’t respond to Berrian specifically about that, but did answer on Twitter about watching video with him: “Don’t be pissed at me dude. Make a play.” Berrian eventually connected with Kriesel to apologize, but apparently it wasn’t enough to avoid punishment.

Wide receiver Greg Camarillo, who was inactive the last three weeks, slides into the fourth receiver spot behind Percy Harvin, Jenkins and Devin Aromashodu.

The Vikings have five corners up in light of Winfield’s absence: Cook, Cedric Griffin, Asher Allen, Marcus Sherels and rookie Brandon Burton.

“The Vikings lead 34-17 in the fourth quarter.”

I watched the whole game and I don’t remember that score in the 4th qtr. Since the final score was 34-10, I think my memory is correct.

  8. Long Beach Viking says:

Yeah, Bernard is a puzzlement. With Gus and T Jack and in Chicago he averaged about 800 yards a year. He’s made some excellent plays in the past. We need him to come thru. I wonder what his deal is? It’s not like he’s Troy W. who NEVER could catch anything. Bernard has had his moments. Jenkins and # 19 have been pretty good, tho. Shank is a f’ing meathead this year.

  9. Lost Viking says:

I can think of a couple of receivers who would be worse than Berrian….

Chad Ochocinco – 7 receptions for 130 yards
TJ Houshinzadah – lucky we avoided this mistake
    Derek Mason –
    Heyward – Bey

    But not many more
