Pagac out as DC; Bowles added to search

Jeremy Fowler of the Pioneer Press has reported that the Vikings have relieved Fred Pagac from his defensive coordinator duties officially. The Vikings have also offered Pagac his old job back as a linebackers coach.

Pagac is the 2nd coach to go on the defensive side of the ball after defensive line coach Karl Dunbar was let go last week. My guess is defensive backs coach Joe Woods could be next on his way out.

NFL.com also reported today that Miami Dolphins interim coach Todd Bowles is in the mix for the Vikings defensive coordinator job. Bowles has interviewed for the Raiders head coaching job and is also rumored to be wanted back as the Dolphins defensive coordinator job or possibly their head coaching job.

I’m all for Fred staying on as the LBer coach but not everything that happened was his fault ~ His CB’s went to hell right off the bat with Winfield missing most of the season Griffin never recapturing his knees ~The safeties were never fixed while Frazier keep up the “Chilly Try” forcing Johnson who should have never made the team out of the field over Sanford who isn’t great but it light years ahead of Johnson ~

Next he had to put up with Mike Singletary who was forced on him as Assistant Head Coach/Linebackers – Mike Singletary (<<< Yeah he had no input on the defense and wasn't a bug in Frazier ear)who couldn't find time to attend most of the LBer meetings while leaving his understudy to do his job more than once because of side projects ~

No replacement for Pat as the guys on the roster couldn't play NT to save their lives ~

If I'm Fred I'm not coming back to work for Assistant Head Coach/DC – Mike Singletary as my new boss ~

Is it me or the fact that they offered him to stay on as the LB’s coach that either Singletary is going to be sent packing or the new DC?

It’s not you ~ I believe Mike has been the pick all along for DC ~

It’s hard to believe that Frazier would be dumb enough to hire Singletary as DC even if they are friends. With all the talk about Singletary missing meeting and not putting in the effort needed as a coach, I just don’t see how they could hire him. If they want him as DC don’t you think they would of hired him by now instead of interviewing other candidates? They even offered Tucker the job already so I would HIGHLY doubt they’d hire him unless they run out of options and are desperate.

      Good observation, Vk4life!

Interviewing while Pagac was Defensive Coordinator incumbent was a big issue for some. I don’t know why it became necessary for Frazier to make the move he did.

The BIGGER issue is appointing Pagac to Singletary’s position. Very strange. Viking are interviewing Defensive Coordinators while putting their staff in place….again, strange way to attract talent.

A few caustic references to Mike Singletary from unnamed sources have left an impression he’s not qualified for a position on the defensive coaching staff. He was the linebacker coach before he went to a wedding, wasn’t he? Good grief.

“”” Lost Viking wrote He was the linebacker coach before he went to a wedding, wasn’t he? Good grief.”””

Based on everything I have found in the local press it was far more then once for a Wedding ~ And the Prsss is as close as I cant get to the Vikings ~ If I have been miss lead please help by posting info on what really happened ~ If it was just that once then yes I have overreacted ~ But if it is as bad as many in the press have made it out to be it would be nice to know the truth ! Thanks
