Vikings to Talk to Colts DB Coach Alan Williams Tuesday

The search for a defensive coordinator for the Vikings has led them to Indianapolis, where the team will chat with Colts defensive backs coach Alan Williams Tuesday morning.

Williams isn’t a stranger in talking to teams about openings, as he talked to the Bears about their defensive coordinator post in 2010 that went to in-house candidate Rod Marinelli.

Williams is a former Tony Dungy disciple and has all kinds of experience with the Tampa 2-style scheme Leslie Frazier currently runs with the Vikings.

What is it with Frazier and cover2 DB coaches and the DC job ~ ?

Im starting to think Frazier is a one trick pony . He just likes the soft zone cover two system and he wants a coordinator that runs that style of defense .

I realize someone has to take part of the fall for last years disaster – but I think firing Pagac was a little premature. While he was familiar with the roster at the begininning of the year, the secondary was plagued by inconsistent play, injuries (by the end of the season they were signing guys of the street just to have enough to suit up) and arrests. Not to mention that certain guys were deviating from his calls in the second half of games early in the year (remember, those games where leads were blown in the second half). I do have to say, this firing is probably more about him not running the standard cover 2 that Frasier likes (Fred leans more toward a cover 1 man-blitz scheme). I would like to see Fred get a year with a full off season and a deeper, more talented roster before he is thrown under the bus.

Question, every coach I’ve seen frazier hire or interview has been black. Has he hired or even interviewed a white coach, if not when will he be called out for reverse discrimination like a white coach would?

Frazier just doesn’ know talent….whether its coaches or QBs
