Vikings Showing Interest In TE Carlson

During what has been a very quiet day in Minnesota in terms of NFL free agency, we are at least starting to gain interest in Seattle’s free agent tight end John Carlson. Carlson, a Minnesota native, was a 2nd round pick a few years back, and Minnesota may be a good fit for him. If we did sign Carlson, he’d likely be filling the void of our #2 tight end spot behind Kyle Rudolph. It seems unlikely the Vikings will try to re-sign Visanthe Shiancoe considering our team is focused on getting younger.

It has also been reported by several sources that the Vikings showed no interest in free agent cornerbacks Courtland Finnegan (Who has been signed by the St.Louis Rams), or Brandon Carr. This bothers me, considering these two were considered to be the top two cornerbacks in free agency. Several free agent wide receivers, such as Vincent Jackson and Pierre Garcon, are already off the market as well. I hope the Vikings have a plan to address these needs, because the free agent market is already getting thinner.
