The Vikings may not have added the Chargers wideout that everyone wanted to (Vincent Jackson) but they did add one of his teamates, Bryan Walters. Walters is an undrafted receiver from Cornell who has spent time on the Chargers 53 man roster and also their practice squad. In 4 games in 2011, Walters had 3 catches for 27 yards and returned 8 kicks for 45 yards.
Here is a video of Walters returning a kick in the pre-season last year if your interested: Bryan Walters Kick Return
Walters is a smaller wide receiver(6’0, 190) but has speed and is shifty. Seems like the Vikings will go into training camp with plenty of bodies to compete to make the 53 man roster. Below is the Vikings depth at the receiver position.
1. Percy Harvin
2. Michael Jenkins
3. Devin Aromashodu
4. Stephen Burton
5. Manny Arceneaux
6. Bryan Walters
7. Kerry Taylor
8. Kris Adams
As it stands now Percy Harvin, Michael Jenkins, and possibly Devin Aromashodu are the only locks to make the team next year. Vikings seem high on Stephen Burton and Manny Arceneaux has some upside but both still pretty raw. More than likely a pick or two in this years draft will also be spent on a receiver so should be a good competition heading into camp.

Randy,
Agreed, Gotta pick one up in 2nd or 3rd round this year…
“Walters is a smaller wide receiver, has speed and is shifty.”
That, but for one letter, pretty much sums up Viking receiver prospects.
So true, so sad, so funny
Nice Lost, needed a laugh. -SDV
maybe blackmon is needed at 3
No, you can get pretty much the same reciever in the second round. This draft is too deep in WR to reach for Blackmon at 3…hes not worth a top 10 pick even. This is the type of draft that late round gems will be found that turn out to be pro bowlers, I just hope we find them.
The Viking receiving core other than Harvin is made up of practice squad quality guys, things are pretty bad when your slot receiver is the #1 with no real deep or red zone threat at the WR position teams will continue to stack the line of scrimmage with extra defenders in the box since they don’t have worry or respect the Vikings passing attack or in this case the lack of.
agreed. it is pretty pathetic
Lets sign Braylon, he can catch still right?

I hope viking fans don’t freak out if the Vikes don’t draft Kalil
and opt for Blackmon or Claiborne.
The media slotted Kalil to the Vikings, and everyone bought into it.
Nothing against kalil, but these other guys are needs too.
