Day 2 Open Discussion: Rounds 2/3

Well, after an exciting day one where the Vikings added help to the offensive line and secondary by picking up OT Matt Kalil and S Harrison Smith, we now enter rounds 2 and 3.

Vikings still have plenty of needs to address but are off to a good start to this years draft.

So just like yesterday for round one, i’ll start this thread so we can discuss who we would like to target in day 2, should we trade up, any concerns, any questions, any thoughts from day one and so on. For tonight we own pick 66 in the draft near the top of the 3rd round. As of now, we are without a 2nd round pick after the trade up for Harrison Smith.

So have at it below in the comment section…

  1. Mike T says:

Alshon Jeffrey if we keep our pick and Reuben Randle or Brian Quick if we trade in to the latter portion of round 2. Once we get our WR, we then focus on DB’s and LB’s

Wouldn’t be surprised if we traded back into the 2nd and snagged a receiver. We have plenty of late-round trade ammunition.

Apparently we like Alshon Jeffery, but I think he’ll be gone unless we make a big deal to get into the mid-2nd round.

Brian Quick is an option at WR, as are Marvin McNutt (my personal choice) and Nick Toon.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we took a CB before a WR though. Maybe if we get lucky we can somehow snag Trumaine Johnson from Montana. Otherwise, we could maybe get Casey Hayward from Vanderbilt if the Pats don’t snag him first.

Personally, I hope we nab either Streeter or Johnson. Streeter is 6’5″, it’d be nice to have a big target for the endzone.

  4. Randy Perrin says:

Marvin Jones is an underrated wideout to watch for also

wow…guys are flying off the board during this second round. Looks like jay cutler will be throwing to alshon jeffrey and steve hill looks to be in NY.
It might be time to package a few of those seventh rounders to move up a bit.
