RB Caleb King Released

The back up runningbacks for the Vikings just seen their chances to make the roster next year go up as the Vikings released Caleb King.

King was arrested for suspicion of third degree assault this weekend after leaving a 22 year old man in serious condition. King has been released from jail and has not had charges filed against him as of yet.

Adrian Peterson and Toby Gerhart have 2 spots locked up but still have a #3 job up for grabs. With King out of the mix that leaves Jordan Todman, Lex Hilliard, UDFA Derrick Coleman and possibly some of the fullbacks to compete for the open spot. I wouldn’t rule out the Vikings adding another player to the mix either.

I’d like to see our 2012 backfield consist of:

AP, Gerhart, Todman, and Felton at fullback.

My hunch is that we’ll keep a ton of tight ends (probably 4, maybe even 5) this year too, so I don’t know if we’ll have room for a fullback, especially considering how Musgrave likes to use his blocking tight ends in an H-back type of role…

I hope they use Percy at RB more often, with Wright at the slot. He’s an awesome running back, tough as sh*t and not too much smaller than Chester Taylor. He’s amazing how he just flies through the line. His yards per carry is high. I think they will use him there more.
