Things just got a little more interesting and according the the Associated Press, Percy Harvin has requested to be traded from the Minnesota Vikings.
Yesterday, reports came out that Harvin wasn’t happy about a lot of things and they needed to be resolved by training camp. Well, now it seems that things have taken a turn for the ugly quick.
Harvin is the Vikings only sure fire receiving threat and arguably the best slot receiver in the NFL. According to ProFootbalFocus, Harvin led the NFL in catch percentage from the slot at 79% and only 4 other receivers gained more yards per route run.
If you thought this off-season has been boring than this should spice things up for you. Now I don’t see anyway that the Vikings would trade Harvin but should be an interesting storyline to follow over the next few days, weeks or months.
Pay This Man, its well deserved!!
YEa can’t say he didn’t earn it.
Pay him!!!! Not only has he earned it – he is the only great receiver they have. Without him, the Vikings will have a worse record this year then they had last year, AP will be stopped in the backfield when he gets back from injury & will run the risk of more injury cause he will be relied on more. Without Harvin, the Vikings might as well pack up cause new stadium or no, there will be no fans left!!!!
Sorry but I think this move on Percy Harvin’s part was totally classless. Going to the Media first without talking to management about any issue that he may have, the team has always taken care of the key players. Percy has definitely out performed his rookie deal, that being said he didn’t even the Vikings a shot at finding out what his demands were before going to the media. Percy if you are getting advice from your agent in this matter. Fire him, he is making you look like a classless individual!
If I’m a slot WR like Percy, I’m disappointed/frustrated that the team plans to use two TE sets for 75 percent of the offensive plays this season (essentially keeping him off the field since he’s not an outside WR). The Vikes already have made it known that they plan to reduce his reps on KO return. Where do they plan to use him? Maybe they asked him to increase his reps as a third down RB and he didn’t like that idea?
The Patriots use a lot of two TE sets with Gronk and AH but Welker still stays out on the field although he’s a slot receiver. I think Harvin should be used in a similar role and Harvin has better ability on the outside than Welker does. Harvin should see no less than 75-80% of all snaps
Good point. But Tom Brady isn’t our QB.
And the Patriots don’t have an AP to hand off to.
