2012 NFL Week Seven Preview – Arizona at Minnesota

A pair of 4-2 teams in the NFC will battle in Minnesota on Sunday, as the Cardinals and Vikings both look to overcome week six losses.

The Cards lost in OT to the Bills at home, while the Vikings were overwhelmed by RG3 and the Redskins on the road.

Arizona has huge questions at the QB spot, as Kevin Kolb had to leave the Bills loss due to injury, and John Skelton simply hasn’t played that well.

The Cards also are having issues keeping running backs healthy, as Beanie Wells is out at least a few more weeks if not the year, and Ryan Williams is done for 2012.

Defense wins ball games. I’ve said it before. Our’s has to outplay theirs, which is going to be a real challenge. The Vikings had better not take the Cardinals for granted. Any given Sunday… I hate to say this but it looks like the Vikings are trying really hard to fall into that same nasty rut they were in last year. AND I’m really tired of saying this but the secondary is bad…just plain bad. They barely have an INT, and it seems to me that they are a sieve. I mean, ANYONE seems to be able to throw on them, and that does not bode well for the team. It lets the other team drive on them, take time off the clock, and score points, which translates into losses. Call me a pessimist, but I think that the secondary is still the Vikings Achillles heel. They also need to get more pressure on the opposing QB, cause more turnovers, and the offense needs to just plain get more powerful and strong…score points, and get long time consuming drives that translate into 7′s instead of threes. I’ve been a die-hard Vikings fan for forty years, but I think they have a LONG way to go before they are an elite team in the NFL, although I hope that they can become one THIS SEASON.We’ll see what they’re made of when they get into that stretch of Chicago, Green Bay, Chicago a little later in the season. For now, I’ll feel a little bit better if they beat the Cardinals this Sunday, and then are able to beat the Buccaneers the following Thursday. Call me a stick in the mud, but winning is EVERYTHING in the NFL. I know that they are still young and rebuilding, and next year will probably be better than this year, but I want to see them win every Sunday just the same.
