2012 NFL Week Eight Preview – Tampa Bay vs Minnesota

Week eight starts with a NFC matchup between the Bucs and the Vikings, one team riding high at 5-2 while the other is coming off a tough last second loss at 2-4.

The Vikings topped the Cards last week, with a defense that is quickly becoming one of the better ones in the NFC. They slammed John Skelton, getting to him with seven sacks and a defensive score to boot.

They will look to lower the boom on Josh Freeman, who last week vs the Saints came close to leading them back to a huge comeback, hitting Mike Williams with no time remaining on a play that would have tied the game.

The play though was no good as it was ruled that Williams went out of bounds in the end zone, thus he wasn’t allowed to come back in and make the catch.

I see this as another close one, and with luck, Minnesota will pull off another victory at home. That is one advantage. Make no mistake, the Buccaneers have talent. Their offensive line is massive, and Josh Freeman has thrown 11 TD passes and over 1700 yards. Don’t forget Ronde Barber either. He’s always looming in the secondary. Christian Ponder MUST have a better game through the air than he had last week, and Purple Jesus will need to have another dominating performance yet again. The Vikings defense must also stay on their toes, creating pressure on Freeman, and just maybe we’ll see another INT or two. That’d be nice to watch. I’m going to say 27-24, Vikings, but I won’t be surprised at an upset. Tampa is coming off of a crushing loss, and at 2-4, they’ll be coming into the Metrodome wanting to win. Let’s all just hope that the Vikings want to win more.

I see this as a blowout, maybe not. Vikings win by 2 TD.
