Viking move to fill practice squad

Seventh-round picks Travis Bond (a guard from North Carolina) and Everett Dawkins (defensive tackle, from Florida State) are among seven members of the Vikings’ practice squad, the club said Sunday.

The Vikings also signed running back Joe Banyard, tight end Chase Ford, offensive tackle Kevin Murphy, wide receiver Rodney Smith and wide receiver and Minnesota product Adam Thielen to the practice squad.

Banyard, Bond, Dawkins, Ford, Murphy, Smith and Thielen were waived by Minnesota on Saturday.

The Vikings have one unfilled practice-squad spot that is usually reserved for taking a player outside of the organization.

Interesting point to note: All nine members of the Vikings’ 2013 draft class are either on the roster or on the practice squad.
