Vikings To Interview Browns DC Ray Horton About Coaching Opening

Ray Horton

The Vikings are scheduled to have a chat with Browns defensive coordinator Ray Horton for their vacant head coaching job, a league source told Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Minnesota is scheduled to kick off its interview process this weekend with both of Seattle’s coordinators, Darrell Bevell (offensive) and Dan Quinn (defensive).

Horton led Cleveland’s defense to ninth in the league in yards allowed. Prior to 2013, Horton spent two seasons as the defensive coordinator of the Cardinals.

He interviewed twice for the Cardinals’ head coaching vacancy before Arizona settled on Bruce Arians.

Horton reportedly got into a heated exchange with Cardinals general manager Steve Keim after he learned he didn’t get the job.

They’re interviewing a bunch of candidates for the HC job, including both offensive and defensive coordinators of Cincinnati and Seattle, Jack Del Rio, Adam Gase, Ray Horton, etc., etc. In my own personal opinion, though I do not know much about any of these men, I’ve read a little about most of them, and itsounds like many fans are pushing for Zimmer from Cincy. I’ve read that he’s a GREAT football mind, a perfectionist, and pushes his players to get the BEST THEY CAN POSSIBLY GIVE. That sounds to me like exactly what the Vikings need, a good shot in the arm.
