Vikings LB Eric Kendricks Out for Game Sunday vs St.Louis

Vikings middle linebacker Eric Kendricks will miss the game against St. Louis on Sunday because of a rib injury, the Associated Press reports.

The Vikings ruled Kendricks out on Friday. Outside linebacker Anthony Barr is listed as questionable with back injury and defensive tackle Shariff Floyd (knee) will miss another game, leaving the Vikings with a banged-up defense to face Rams rookie running back Todd Gurley.

Barr was able to practice on Friday, making it likely he will be on the field against the Rams.

Audie Cole will get the start in place of Kendricks, who was named NFC defensive rookie of the month in October. The second-round draft pick out of UCLA quickly supplanted Gerald Hodges in the starting lineup, allowing the Vikings to trade Hodges to San Francisco during the bye week.

I like Audie, I really do, but even though Kendricks is still a rookie, he WAS, after all, named Defensive Rookie of the Month. Audie Cole is a real go-getter, and if he’s on his A-game, he’ll do OK, maybe even get his name called a time or two during the broadcast. BUT, Kendricks on his A-game, is ALL OVER THE FIELD, piling up tackle stats every Sunday. The dude’s a BEAST, even at 6’0, 232 lbs. I surely am hoping with all I’ve got, that Audie will be able to step up, and get the job done against probably the BEST rookie RB from the draft last May. I’m afraid he’s gonna need some help before it’s over with, and I’m guessing that will come from Barr, ( if he plays ), or Harry the Hit Man. One thing’s for certain…gurley might be a beast in his own right, but #22 can drop him, just like any other RB in the league…EXCEPT, OF COURSE, his teammate, #28. Good thing they’re on the same team, huh? EAT ‘EM UP, SUNDAY, GUYS! SKOL VIKINGS!!!
