The Vikings on Saturday made a surprise move, as the team waived guard Pat Elflein just a day after bringing him off the injured reserve.
The 2017 third-round pick of the team was dealing with a thumb injury that was suffered in practice back in September.
Elflein played in the opener against the Packers, and was moved to IR on September 17th. He returned to practice October 28th.
Now he will go on waivers after being released, free to any team that may want him.
“We just felt like we had some better options,” coach Mike Zimmer said Saturday via ESPN.
Now that Elflein is off the roster, the team will turn to Dru Samia as well as second-rounder Ezra Cleveland to fill the guard spot.
