Injury Report Gets Fuller

The Vikings have had relative luck with injuries so far this season (frantically knocking on wood) as they have not lost anyone for the season or even had very many serious injuries.  Antoine Winfield’s foot injury has been the worst injury so far, and he is due back any day now.

The injury report features ten guys this week, however.

Anthony Herrera (concussion) and Benny Sapp (groin/thumb/ribs) did not participate in Wednesday’s practice.  Both players have indicated to media outlets that they’ll be ready to go by Sunday’s game against the Cardinals.

Limited in practice on Wednesday were Eric Frampton (concussion), Bryant McKinnie (back), Visanthe Shiancoe (ribs), Naufahu Tahi (ankle), Chester Taylor (ribs) and Antoine Winfield (foot).  Frampton, McKinnie, and Shiancoe are all new additions to the injury report and their exact status is unknown.  Tahi struggled with the injury previously, but has been able to play with it.  Winfield should almost certainly be ready to play after not playing since the Ravens game.  Brian Robison recently said in an online chat that he thinks Chester Taylor is fine.  We’ll keep you updated as often as possible.

For the Cardinals, Kurt Warner (concussion) was able to fully participate in practice Wednesday, and it has been indicated that he’ll likely play against the Vikings.

The Cardinals starting left tackle Mike Gandy (pelvis) was unable to participate in practice.  Gandy has struggled greatly this year, and Jared Allen should be able to generate much pressure regardless if he’s going against a semi-healthy Gandy or his backup.

Tim Hightower (thumb), Bryant McFadden (knee), and Karlos Dansby (shoulder) were all limited in practice.  Each of these players are of pretty high caliber, so the absence of one or all of them would play to the Vikings advantage.

I see you have bmac with sore back. He was on it an awful lot Sunday, no wonder it hurts.

Hey Adam just for the heck of it, how many pro-bowlers were on the 1998 team and who were they?

    • Adam Warwas says:

Shooting from the hip, relying on memory but no research here:

My guess is 9: Cunningham, R. Smith, Carter, Moss, Christy, both McDaniels, Randle, and Steussie.

Now go fact check that and come back to tell me where I am wrong.

For instance, I cant remember if Randle’s injury would have sidelined him for the Pro Bowl.

  3. Adam Warwas says:

Oh, wait, make that 10… I bet Gary Anderson made it too.

I forgot about him… I keep trying to forget about that whole Gary Anderson thing.

Hypothetically… Do you think the Vikings would struggle if teams decided they want to stop Brett Favre? Our offensive line seems to be playing better in passing situation, and AP has a turnover problem.

    • Adam Warwas says:

That’s an interesting thought, and i am really surpised it hasn’t happened yet. I think Adrian is still Adrian and would simply start looking like the Adrian that we’re used to.

That being said, if I were a D-coordinator going against the Vikings, I would put 8 in the box and blitz them all on every down. You are still stacking the line against the run, but also trying to pressure Favre into throwing bad throws. That’s the only time I’ve really seen him make poor throws, with pressure in his face.

If you give him time to throw, it doesn’t matter if you double every wide out, eventually he’ll complete the pass.

Hopefully cc will chime in and verify. By both McDaniels you mean Ed? That is the only question for me. Gary Anderson, I still cant believe he could be perfect all year and choke on that 37 yarder. Cant believe that was 11 years ago. Guess we gotta let that one go, somehow.

Kudos to Fred’s pal AKs, plenty of good material here! Fred appreciates your work.

Well, aside from that Peter King garbage you laid on Freds!

Fred has guests coming on Sunday for dinner, he needs to run them out of the house by kick off!!!!

    • Adam Warwas says:

Thanks Freds… sorry for bringing up Mr. King. Sounds like you’re about as big of a fan of him as I am of Stephen King (overated, pretentious, no talent ass clown).

Not for sure yet, but Live Blog should be ready to go on Sunday. I’ll let you all know… and try to give you more heads up this time around.

Fred hopes the Cardinal throw the ball 60 times on Sunday. Let’s see how our boys react to a real passing game. Fred really hopes Warner doesn’t play, he isn’t mobile enough to test the Vike. Fred loves Warner, but old Kurt should play the concussion card one more week.

    Vike 24 Cardinal 21

    Fred’s Jackass of the week:

    1) Heinze Wards – Fred hates that putz. Just shut your mouth. Nice work being critical of your QB who has won 2 superbowls.

    2) Ryan Longwell’s neighbor – Does Fred need to explain?

    3) Freds – having an affair with Ryan Longwell’s neighbor’s wife. Hey, if he can do it, so can she. Fred is always ready to help a women in distress.

  8. Fran the Man says:

Do you think that 100 mile an hour bullet that Favre rifled into Shank’s mid section in the Bears game (That bounced off him) had anything to do with his sore ribs 🙂

  9. Fran the Man says:

Freds, what are you talking about in regard to Longwell??

  10. Fragile Fred says:

    Hello Frans,

I guess Freds DOES have to explain.

  11. bigjohnny84 says:

Frans I’m in the dark too. Havent heard the Longwell story yet. Cmon Uncle Freds tell us.
