Breaking It Down

Here are a few notes about where the Vikes currently stand:

NFC NORTH

The Vikings have almost (Almost!) sealed up the NFC North, but the Packer continue to hang on.  With three weeks left, the Vikings need to manage one win or have the Packers lose once in order to clinch the division title.  Hopefully that all takes care of itself this week so that we don’t have to worry about that anymore.

NFC

For the most part, everything concerning the Vikings held steady in the NFC race.  They are still two games behind the New Orleans Saints and still two games ahead of the Eagles and Packers.  The big victory this week came in the form of losses by the Cowboys and Cardinals.  This puts these two teams three games behind the Vikings.

PLAYOFF PICTURE

If the season were to end today, the Saints would play the lowest seed between the Packers, Cowboys, Eagles and Cardinals… dependant on which of these teams advance.  The Vikings would play the higher seed between the two victors of those four teams.

Besides the Vikings, here are some teams to root for this coming week:

  • Ravens – They host the Bears this weekend, and watching the bears get beat down wouldn’t hurt anything.  I’d say we should root for the Bears to win so that they get worse draft position… but since they pretty much gave up their entire draft for Jay Cutler then I guess it doesn’t really matter.
  • Lions – The Lions get to play host to the Cardinals next week.  After being embarrased on Monday Night Football, a loss to the Lions would pretty much have them backing into the playoffs as much as any team can.
  • Niners – After coming off a huge victory at home, the Niners head to Philly where they could do the Vikings a huge solid by knocking them off.  Anybody really want to see them in the playoffs again?
  • Steelers – We need the Pack to be out of the Division race, not to mention I would love to see them somehow lose the wild card race all together.

Overall, the Vikings are finding themselves in great shape.  A win against Carolina next week would all but put a ribbon on this memorable regular season.

I would actually love to see the Packers come back to the dome in the playoffs. Would be sweet to kick their butts 3 times this season.

With the way NO is stealing games I don’t see them finishing undefeated so we’ll just hope the blow it the next 3 weeks so we can have home field.

Niner did Vike a big favor tonight.

The longer Vike are playing for something the better prepared we’re going to be going into the playoffs. We’re in a great spot.

Two outdoor games coming up won’t hurt either

    Here’s a cool stat for our team;
We’re 6th in defense and 6th in offense.
    Pretty well rounded, eh?

    (From nfl.com)

The Saints are #1 in offense but 21st in defense. We’ll murder them, if given the chance.

    Adam,

You NEVER, EVER… EVER need to tell any of us to root against the Packers, I CANNOT stress that enough.
