The Star Tribune just released a few interesting nuggets as to Sunday’s game.
First, Jamarca Sanford will be used in the same way he was used against the Giants. He will split snaps with current starter Tyrell Johnson. This is somewhat of an unusual move for a playoff team, as typically defensive players don’t just split reps. It is good news for readers of this blog, however, as I have seen quite a bit of support for Sanford in the comments section.
Second, Antoine Winfield will play both on the inside and in the slot. How often he is used on the outside has yet to be determined, but if Winfield is getting closer to 100% then he can be depended on a little more than Benny Sapp. With that being said, Sapp has been playing very well, Winfield has not, and I think most readers here would agree that Winfield should stick to the nickel position for most of Sunday.
Tyrone –
You’ve been really very solid. Don’t worry about it man…keep working it. Ignore the haters!
Freds, I dont hate Tyrone, I think he’s a good respectable young man. I just think Sanford has more intensity, he’s more agressive and tackles a little better, which is better for the team.
What could possibly be more encouraging for a young DB than a glowing endorsement from Fred “shutdown” Smooter.
Freds,
I like Tyrone, I just like Sanford’s hitting and tackle a little more right now…
Sanford just has to remember not to hit the guys in the Purple and Gold, that’s all…
Thank you Tombs.
It is fun to watch how hard Sanford plays the game.
We do need to keep him away from Brinkley, however.
We’re presently running low on MLB’s.
Agreed,
Sanford needs to hit the Boys in Silver and Blue!!!
this is good news, not only cuz our secondary can use the adjustments, but also cuz it shows the coaches (chillzifferhaney) are willing to change it up, and i hope in other areas, too, like lettin’ BF call more of his own game
