Well, the Vikings are continuing to quietly make roster moves that will define the 2010 season. Today, news broke that the Vikings successfully negotiated a two year contract with Benny Sapp.
Sapp has played with the Vikings on two consecutive one-year contracts the past two seasons. He appeared to have to turned a corner in 2009 when it came to his maturity and performance on the field. Most notably, he did a very nice job filling in for an injured Antoine Winfield.
With Antoine Winfield, Benny Sapp, and Asher Allen now solidified for 2010, the Vikings have gained a little extra freedom when it comes to the Draft. They will probably still go after a cornerback at some point, however, as it is still a big question as to when Cedric Griffin will be able to make his return after tearing his ACL in the NFC Championship game.
Bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaak! First
This is very good for the Vikings
Tony Panties, you need to get a life man.
Agreed this was a very good signing for the Vikes. I liked the way Sapp played a lot last year.
I think Frazier and other coachs finally got him mentally prepared. His dumbass penalties went down as the year went on also.
A year ago, I never thought I’d say this, but: nice!
Me too, bismuth.
I got SO tired of his stupidity at times.
I’m not too sure if we can start thinking of putting CB further down the list as far as the draft goes.
Much will hinge on when Ced can make it back. That was a gruesome injury. The kind that sometimes takes a solid year to come back from.
Benny and the Viking.
Benny and the Vike.
Don’t know if we can work the lyrics. But the signing is worth singing about. Now, the debate: sign a CB with the 1st pick or draft at guard to help out the running game?
