McNabb Is Traded

Multiple reports are surfacing that the Eagles have traded quarterback Donovan McNabb to the Washington Redkins.

McNabb has been often linked to the Vikings in recent years, but shockingly the Eagles have decided to deal him to a division foe.

It is unknown what the Redskins had to give up for compensation, and also if McNabb has agreed to a new contract.  One thing is for sure, however, this offseason just got a little more interesting.

(UPDATE:  The Redskins gave Philly their #37 pick in this year’s draft, in addition to a 2011 third or fourth rounder.)

(UPDATE II:  A reader named “phil” just raised an excellent point in the comments section.  The Redskins are now highly unlikely to select a quarterback in the upcoming draft, giving the Vikings less competition to acquire one of the top passers in this class.)

the Redskins are crazy. McNabb, Rex Grossman, Larry Johnson, Willie Parker, Phillip Buchanon and our own ex Viking Artis Hicks. Guess this means aloha to Hawaii’s own, Colt Brennan

    Wow, didnt see that coming.

  3. Ole says:

ESPN is reporting the Eagles will receive a 2nd round pick this year and either a 3rd or 4th rounder pick in 2011

Geesh, the Redskins are becoming the Raiders of the NFC

      How true Johnny.

Have you taken a look at the running backs currently slated to be on the Redskins next year?
A great list of running backs, if you want to roll the clock back 7 or 8 years.

The Redskins are a fine example of why you don’t make it a habit of trading away draft picks.

  5. phil says:

now we know the redskins wont draft a qb with their first pick, now if we trade up to 8 claussen may still be there

  6. Fragile Freds says:

If the Vikes decide to do as Phil indicates, move up to 8 to get Clausen, what exactly would it cost them in picks? Isn’t there some grid that shows the value and cost associated to move up? I know it’s not always accurate but…

      freds…..#30 = 620 pts…..#8 = 1400 pts…
that diff is approx: this yrs’ 2nd and next yrs’ 2nd….or, next yrs’ 1st…….
if he falls to #15, it’s 400 diff or approx: this yrs’ 2nd and next yrs’ 3rd…….if he falls all the way to 20, we’d get him for this yrs’ 2nd!

      GO VIKES!!!!!

  7. krugjr says:

Buff’s in position for Clausen at #9….moving up to #8 is too much for a guy with some “leadership” issues…….if Buff passes (or goes after Campbell), Clausen could very well fall all the way to Vikes…..makes you wonder where McCoy & Tebow fit into all of this!

Coach, get us a copy of the Vikes’ draft board will ya?

    GO VIKES!!!!!

That’s one room they don’t give me the keys to, jr. They check your eyeballs and fingerprints to enter the draft chamber.

  8. Fragile Freds says:

    Thanks Krugs.

Moving up to 8 will cost too much. Forget it.

Neither McCoy or Tebow is a first rounder, this doesn’t impact either of them.

  9. Fran the Man says:

Maybe it’s a damn good thing we didn’t go after McNabb. If the eagles thought so little of him to trade him for a 2nd rounder in THEIR OWN division, that tells me they think very little of his skills at this stage in his career. ANY player who is traded, always looks forward to playing his old team and apparently the Eagles feel they’ll be able to handle that, no problem (Or they greatly underestimated what McNabb has left in the tank)

  10. krugjr says:

I keep thinking we have this “one year window” once again to win it all (assume Brett’s return), so just get us an impact player or two in this draft and forget about moving up for the QB of the future……improve pass coverage and both lines, OL first, and get us to the big dance……the more teams that grab all these QBs between 1 and 61 will just leave us more talent at 30 & 62……then let Brad find his piece of clay after that!

    GO VIKES!!!!!
