And That’s Why You Need A Roof

The Vikings chances of getting their requested public participation in financing a new stadium in Minnesota cannot be hurt by the numbers coming out of Miami today.

According to a recent study, about $333 million was injected into the South Florida area as a direct result of hosting Super Bowl XLIV this year.  And, according to locals, the area really needed the financial boost.

In addition to straight cash, the event also gave the region a chance to showcase itself, and the same study concluded the three out of four “outsiders” attending the Super Bowl said they would be heading back to the area even if no Super Bowl is being hosted there.

The average income of an individual attending the game was $220,000 annually, and each person spent roughly $401 per day while they were visiting.

While Minnesota doesn’t exactly have the warm climate of South Florida during February, the chance to host a Super Bowl is basically like winning the lotto and making sure that any new stadium has a roof have to be a priority, even if it is a retractable roof.  Whether or not numbers like these are enough to persuade the Minnesota Legislature is yet to be seen, but they sure as heck can’t hurt.

  1. The Minnesota Legislature AND the people of the greater Minneapolis/St. Paul area need to read this article AND your post Adam, stand up and take notice, and UNDERSTAND what it would mean FOR THEM AND Viking fans everywhere, including ME FROM NORTH CAROLINA, and a LIFELONG VIKING FANATIC (SKOL!), to host the Super Bowl, AND TO KEEP THE VIKINGS IN MINNESOTA. For God’s sake, folks need to get behind their beloved team. I wish I had a couple hundred mil to make sure things went right up there. People, wake up. Who the hell wants to root for the LA Vikings? (even though I know that the name and beloved colors could not be used) You go Adam!! Hey,Adam, I know you could use some help here. Hows about a private e-mail, and gimme a part-time job helping out here at Vikings Gab, and spreading the gospel according to Jared?
