Harvin And Sapp Carted Off Practice Field

One of the biggest concerns this time of year is whether or not a team can have successful practices without jeopardizing the health of their football team.

Today’s first practice was in full pads, and rookie running back Toby Gerhart can tell you that it was a practice that featured some good old fashioned contact.  He was beat up on three occasions by Pat Williams, Jasper Brinkley, and Chad Greenway.

“It’s expected,” Gerhart said of the big hits. “I feel like I’m playing football again.”

It is expected.  But that doesn’t ease the pain of seeing players get carted off the field like Percy Harvin and Benny Sapp were today.

Harvin’s injury is a mystery at this point as nobody saw an obvious point in which he could have suffered the injury.  There was a point at which his helmet popped off after he bobbled and then caught a ball with Asher Allen covering him tightly.

Benny Sapp was able to return to practice later after his injury was found to be only cramps.
