Live Chatting The Niners Game

Hey everyone!

Again, I apologize that I haven’t been around as much as I should be.  Thanks to Matt Loede, however, the site has been keeping you mostly up-to-date on all things Vikings.

I plan on making up for by slacker ways today by doing a live chat during the Niners game.  It has been a while since our last live chat (the draft I think?) so lets review a few things you should know:

  1. Children can make for some of the most loyal football fans around, and some may visit this site.  So please, please, please try and keep your comments at a PG-13 rating.  Thanks!
  2. Please be patient on your first few comments.  I have to approve your first comments and then give you approval to chat in real time (without me approving every comment).  If your first couple of comments don’t appear for a few minutes, just be patient.  Once I get back from my beer run, I will approve you.
  3. It almost never fails that my computer goes haywire at least once every time I do a live chat.  If I disappear for an unusual length of time then I am probably rebooting and will be back ASAP.  This may take a while, but I will be back to approve your comments and keep things moving.  My apologies if this does occur.
  4. Cover-It-Live is a great program that allows us to chat, but it does have limitations.  I can only approve 25 users to live chat in real time.  After that, I have to approve comments on an individual basis.  So please use only one username in order to save room for others that would like to chat in real time.
  5. We’ll get started pretty close to kickoff time.

  1. Fragile Freds says:

So what did we learn from that game?

    1) Pre season is terrible.

    2) It’s bad to be a QB behind a 2nd or 3rd string line

    3) Chris Cook needs to learn what run contain means. My man got smoked 3 times on runs he should have turned inside

    4) TJack was referred to as a “young QB” on TV. When does this guy stop being young and start be adequate? I like the guy, but he is just not very good.

    5) Joe Webb is who we thought he was, a guy drafted as a wide receiver. This dude needs a TON of work. Nice run, lousy passing. But unlike TJizzle, he is young and we can always hope. By the way Joe, that dance made your old pal Fragile really uncomfortable. Nothing short of an embarassement. You are a 4th string rookie QB who’s claim to fame is jumping over gym mats, settle down!

    6) The D line is good, very good, all of them.

    7) Chris “the swinging door” Clark is going to get someone killed. How does Brian McInnie look now? Yikes Clark is bad, really bad. Let’s hope he can jump over a few blue mats.

    8) The broadcast team last night was excellent. They sound as good as always with the sound off.

    9) Toby will be seeing some serious time as the number two running back.

    10) AP is a great running back, but he is the TJAX of blocking for his QB. Dude seems to recongnize the the blitz well enough, but for a guy who likes to run over people, he looks like well, me when it comes to being a physical blocker.

    11) It’s pre season. Let’s just stay healthy and move on from there.

    12) Sorry Ole, but what was with Dugan last night?

As far as Webb dancing, to me its perfectly understandable. He’s a kid fresh out of college who just scored his first touchdown in the NFL (running that is). I’d probably celebrate too :P. Of course it doesnt count for anything, but its still probably a big moment for him heh. Also it wasnt exactly a big insulting dance, just a simple td dance.

cook wasnt the 1 getting burned on the runs it seemed to be lito and dare i say it asher allen (miss judged the run and the rb scored the opening td)

  2. Nume says:

It was definitely not the most exciting preseason game to watch. I will say I really hope they hold onto Webb and dont try to get him onto the practice squad, because I would almost guarantee someone will snatch him immediately if they do. He has enough physical talent to make it worth keeping him around imo. I also dont think he has looked that bad throwing either, just had a couple not perfect passes. He was running for his life last night though so I dont blame him too bad, and that td run was crazy fast :P.

  3. VikingDude says:

He was drafted as a reciever (I think)and we are short at reciever …. what an asset if Percy can’t make it

  4. Luke says:

Where is Webb going to fit in? Can we keep him as a 4th QB if we have him also at WR and RB and plays Special teams? And add him in with the wildcat. Have they ever checked him out at a returner?

Or are we just going to Trade Sage and he’ll be a strict #3 QB?

Are we going to rethink having 2 kickers so we can add another sill plater like Webb?

    What do you think Adam?

  5. B. Grant says:

Ongoing problem in two words: Pass protection
