Sage & Reynaud Traded To Giants

And we knew it was only a matter of time…

PFT is reporting that Vikings quarterback Sage Rosenfels was traded to the New York Giants.

Compensation is not yet known.

Brett Favre, Tarvaris Jackson, and Joe Webb are almost certainly your newest depth chart at the quarterback position.

More to come…

(UPDATE:  NFL Network says the compensation is a “future conditional pick.”  No immediate help to the O-Line or secondary, but more draft picks in the future is always a good thing.)

(UPDATE II:  Star Tribune is reporting that backup running back (and primary punt returner) Darius Reynaud has been included in the trade.  Whatever the conditions of the pick are, it looks like this trade won’t pay dividends until the 2012 draft.)

(UPDATE III:  PFT says that the Vikings will get both a pick in 2011 and one in 2012.  I’ll refrain from any opinions at this point.  Hopefully we’ll find out the true terms of the trade very soon.)

I don’t know why Chilly has such a man crush on T-Jack. Sage has been the best QB again this preseason. If Farve goes down, the Vikes are done this year and for years to come.

    • GB Nordic says:

T-jack has been his project quarterback. That is why Chilly will not give up on him. Chilly think that T-jack has McNabb type talent. Yes he does they both play in the NFL.

  2. Norseman66 says:

Just read he went for a future conditional draft pick. What’s that, a bag of footballs!? What is the front office of the Vikings doing? First the draft, whichI still have nightmares of, and now this. Doesn’t look good sport fans, doesn’t look good at all.

  3. Jughead says:

haha childress you have yet to surprise me

  4. Jughead says:

i just read on Startribune that Reynaud was included in the trade

  5. Fran the Man says:

Just to try and inject something positive about this horrible trade, if Favre goes down,
Jackson goes in, plays like he always has and always will, we finish 8-8 or maybe 9-7.
The Wilfs (Who have to be the dumbest owners in all of football) FIRE Childress!!
See? This could turn from being a very stupid move (A CONDITIONAL PICK??!! are you freaking kiding me?) to getting us a new coach that actually knows how to coach and hopefully has the players respect, which Childo does not.

  6. c.carterhof says:

Just saw that Jughead, Reynaud too?

    WTF?!

  7. c.carterhof says:

Sage does’nt suprise me, I was’nt all that crazy about him anyways. But Reynaud? Damn!

  8. Fragile Freds says:

As the voice of positivity on this here site, let your old pal say Freds is just plain glad we got something for old Sage.

We all knew he was gone, wait, maybe we still got nothing for Sage and the pick is really for Reynaud. Who da guessed it?

Good luck Sage. Freds memories of you will be good ones! The time you wore that red baseball cap with the V on the front will always send a chill up Fred’s spine. Or the time you wore that blue cap…. a classic Viking moment. Good luck old pal, thanks for the memory.

  9. Fragile Freds says:

Don’t blame coach of the year Brads on this one, it was that BASTARD Joe Webb! The stupid jackass jumping over those blue matts, running fast and dancing sweet in the end zone. HE forced Sage out. Freds will never forget you Joe!!!!

t-jack is a great qb the problem is chilli doesnt run a good game plan for him….he doesnt adapt his game plan for an athletic qb…or ever run a freakin sweep for ap
    ————————————

Above picked off the Vikings Web Site Comments. Fred still hasn’t read past the first 5 words without choking on his own vomit.

  11. Jughead says:

    so….who’s returning punts this year?

    • Brett says:

      JOE WEBB!

      Seriously though, horrible, horrible trade….

    • Fran the Man says:

      Probably Albert Young.
This was a bad trade. We need O-line help NOW and could use some at CB too.
Instaed we get conditional picks spread over two years?
Man, we HAVE to get rid of Childress.

  12. CalVkg says:

w/o knowing what we got in return, we don’t know squat, and it’ll still depend on how the picks turn out later. we knew we had to move one of ’em, so no big deal, we’ve got favre for now, tj for back up, and webb maybe for the future

next is d-line trades. we gotta get value

  13. Fragile Freds says:

Thank you Cal, some voice of reason.

Fred wonders if this move doesn’t allow them to keep one more lineman than otherwise. With Pat retiring and Ray Ray sure to be gone gone, Freds wouldn’t be quick to trade one…unless it was an exceptional deal.

  14. bigjohnny84 says:

Absolutely unbelievable. Childo has to be the biggest, stupidest moron ever. He needs to be fired now. If Favre goes down I for one will turn the tv off before I’ll watch Tjack impersonate a QB. And what the hell did Reynaud do wrong to get traded? His absence will be sorely missed also.

  15. Greg says:

IT could have been worse….Favre will be back for 2011! haha

Give the Vikes credit its SUPERBOWL or bust!

  16. c.carterhof says:

Greg is right. Wasn’t it just about a week ago we were all praising Chilly and co. for getting Camarillo.

Sage was, well Sage. He wasn’t gonna get us where we wanna be. Niether is Jackson. Webb will, but not this year. Its Granpa all the way, if he goes down for any significant time, we’re done.
I just don’t get getting rid of Reynaud. Kid looked good to me, he was our best punt returner. Why would you do that?

    • bigjohnny84 says:

CC, not all of us were praising Childo for trading Sapp away. And ya getting rid of Reynaud makes less sense. Do they want AA returning punts with only three cbs on the active roster?

    • Fran the Man says:

      Who was praising Chily?
Not me, I will go to my grave KNOWING he is the worst coach EVER to coach an NFL team.
Again CC, Who was praising Childo???

    • c.carterhof says:

Okay okay, maybe all & praise were not the right choice of words.

  17. G.P. says:

Sage didn’t want to be a Viking anyway. So, if you can’t be enthusiastic and do your job for the greater good of the team good riddens. P.S. go Asher go! The Cookie Monster has knees of glass.

    • bigjohnny84 says:

GP you are alive praise the lord. Hate to disagree but Sage said he wanted to stay but Kevin Seifert is saying that Childo said that Sage wouldnt be on the 53 man roster no matter what. And Tjack said he didnt care about getting booed.

      • G.P. says:

Hey B.J. 84 he may have said that but his performance at camp was lack luster to say the least. He didn’t seem to be trying too hard.

      • G.P. says:

yes I’m very much alive I’ve just been sick and then really busy. Thanks for caring buddy!

      • bigjohnny84 says:

I’m glad you are ok GP. I went to camp also and Tjack was the same as he’s always been, worthless. Actually I posted that Webb was the best of the bunch, he deserves to be Favres backup.

    • Purple Charlie says:

G.P. is in the house!!! Good to see ya posting, A.A.has the chance to shine…

As Johnny said, Glad to see you are ok…

      • G.P. says:

Thanks P.C. glad to be back. Thanks a lot for taking over the Asher fan fare duties in my absence. good to know you held down the fort.

  18. krugjr says:

wouldn’t it be funny if Eli goes down when we meet the Giants in the post season, and the “Purple Sage” knocks us out of the playoffs!!!!!

    I’m speechless…..

    • CalVkg says:

“…in exchange for a reported fifth-round choice in the 2011 draft and a conditional pick in 2012 that the NFL Network said will be based on how much Rosenfels plays.”

that would be better for our pick position if sage plays, but he ain’t beatin’ us. we should be less vulnerable in december

    • Purple Charlie says:

Krugs, The way our luck goes, Nothing would surprise me…

  19. Fran the Man says:

Not to be a conspiracy nut but, you guys do know that Zigi Wilf is a HUGE NY Giants fan, right?
    Make your conclusions. . .

  20. Purple Charlie says:

Born and raised a Giants fan, How do you turn your back on the team you have loved…
    Hmmmm lol.

  21. fozz44 says:

Childress drafted TJack. He’s not going anywhere until Childo turns him into Tom Brady. You just watch how he will blossom.

  22. Getting rid of Reynaud was worst mistake made. A proven quality return man plus running back/receiver.I liked him very much. He is a very good player and flexible. It was hard for me to believe we would lose him at first, but nothing much overly surprises me these days. It’s just sad. I sure hope we get some good picks in return.
