The Sage Rosenfels era officially ended on Saturday evening when he was traded the the N.Y. Giants along with RB/WR Darius Reynaud for the ever popular undisclosed draft choice. By trading Rosenfels, the Vikings assured Joe Webb of a roster spot and keeps Tarvaris Jackson as the teams back-up QB for yet another year.
Other observations include the following:
Colt Anderson really wants to make this team, but he is just too limited in coverage at safety. He will hit and support the run, but he isn’t very instinctive, takes a lot of false steps and is very prone to sucker on ball fakes.
Tyrell Johnson looked like the guy the team drafted ( Finally ! ) He was all over the field against the Broncos.
Fred Evans – This guy just HAS to make this team ! He was so quick off the ball that he actually got a penalty for offsides when he wasn’t ! He has been disruptive against the run and a total terror rushing the passer. If the Vikes cut him, another team will gobble up a really good football player.
Rhys Lloyd – May have kicked himself back from the brink of the football abyss with an excellent performance vs. the Broncos.
I was impressed with the play of Erin Henderson, Kenny Onatolu and Ryan D’Imperio in the final preseason game. We will have to wait to see if any and/or all have done enough to stick.

Two very good football players to a team that needed new talent on offense
