Will Cook Be Competition For Sullivan?

I am not a big fan of starting center John Sullivan’s level of play, but I have to admit I was wishing for him to re-enter the lineup after injuring his leg early in Sunday’s game.  I was wishing for his return, because the very next play featured his replacement, Ryan Cook, getting beat bad by Corey Williams who pummeled Adrian Peterson in the background.

After that, however, Cook played quite well in my opinion outside of two penalties.

“I think I learned a lot from Artis last year, being able to see him come in and fill those positions adequately and not really have a drop-off,” Cook said of former teammate Artis Hicks. “I think there was a valuable lesson to be learned, and I tried to take as much from him as I could.”

“Obviously, there’s some things I still need to improve on. I went in there at the last second for Sully and filling in for him, I think I did overall a good job.”

Both Sullivan and Childress declined to give specifics about his injury, but this could turn into a mid-season position battle if Sullivan continues to struggle with injuries and Ryan Cook continues to play well in his place.

Cook may have finally found his position on the line. childress (Freds’ pen pal) must have given up on his stubborn attempt to convert Cook into an NFL offensive tackle. Cook will be a better interior lineman where he always has Hutchinson to help him out. Sullivan was too weak and small to effectively play center

Cook has always played Center until Chilly and Morris (OL coach) got the bight idea of making him a RT ~ Bottom line is if you go back and look at Cooks games at RT he looked better then Loadholt to date who gets beat by every DE he faces ~ There is still hope of Loadholt ~ How ever this is just another dumb move by Chilly as he try to prove he really is the Guru the press named him when he was hired by the Vikings ~

Cook was drafted by Fran Foley to one day be Birk’s replacement ~ How well off would the OL be if Cook had been left at Center ~ ? Would the Vikings running game been more of a factor if Cook had been the starting Center in last years NFCC game after having 2 seasons to train behind Birk ~ ? I would have to think so ~

It took Chill 2+ seasons to understand TJ was not a capable starting NFL QB ~ Same thing happened with T. Johnson at Safety ~ Now it’s Loadholt and Sullivan ~ What do all of these players have in common ~ They all were handed their jobs by Chilly with out even having to earn therm ~ Loadholt was named the RT the week after the draft and Sullivan the week after Birk singed with the Ravens ~ Johnson was named the starting safety the week after Shapers contract ran out ~ And TJ was Chillys man the day he and Rob fought Fran Foley over the drafting TJ ~ Have any doubt got back and read what the local press had to say the week after that draft ~ By the way a Minn. judge ruled the Vikings had to pay Fran in full because he was fired for doing him job ~ It’s all out there if you care to search for the info ~

No I’m not a fan of Chilly ~ Yet I’m still a team fan after 40+ season and if I live I will be a team fan after Chilly is gone ~
