Vikings Insider Judd Zulgad (apparently the “Vikings Insider” part is considered his official title now) wrote an article on Saturday that is well worth reading.
Zulgad details the events that preceded the blockbuster trade that sent Randy Moss and a 2012 seventh round draft pick to Minnesota in exchange for a 2011 third round pick.
The story really takes a turn when it is revealed that Vikings Vice President of Player Personnel Rick Spielman happened to be in Dallas at the same time as Patriots Director of Player Personnel Nick Caserio. Both Spielman and Caserio were in Dallas to attend the Texas-Oklahoma game last weekend.
While the prospect of trading for Moss had previously been mentioned at Winter Park, it wasn’t until this chance meeting occurred that the wheels began to turn.
Again, for those of you interested in the details of this trade, I highly recommend you giving Zulgad’s article a read by clicking here.
And don’t be shy about congratulating him on his promotion from lowly beat writer to Vikings Insider.
(UPDATE: At some point shortly after I posted this, Access Vikings decided to make the article I discussed available to “premium members” only. So, you can click the link and pay them some money if you like, but I’m sure most of you won’t. Which is too bad, Zulgad is missing out on lots of sincere congratulations.)
Great job Cuz! That’s some decent cred!
