Could the Vikings Wait Till the Draft to Deal the Third Pick? says that there’s a shot that the Vikings may move the 3rd overall pick, but if it happens, it may not go down till draft day.

Vikings general manager Rick Spielman speculated about trading the No. 3 pick in this month’s NFL draft on Friday, Pro Football Weekly reported. It is widely expected that quarterbacks Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III will be taken first and second when the draft commences on April 26 in New York.

“I think those picks will go relatively quickly,” Spielman said. “But I’m sure there will be some conversations before that pick if we’re going to (make a trade).” Most mock drafts have been projecting that Minnesota will take former USC tackle Matt Kalil at No. 3. “If we want to get out of that pick, we’ll [determine] what it will take to get out of that pick,” Spielman said. “Plus you have to be careful of how far you would want to go [down in the draft]. You have to know what you’re looking at, depending on how far you go back. Are you getting yourself out of the [range of] the supposedly blue-chip type of players?”

Just for extra suspense, Spielman even added, “There are times we have been in (the war room) and we’ve done deals on the clock. It’s an unknown, but you’re prepared for both ways.”

    This is just getting irritating…

Of course the Vikings will deal the pick if someone really wants to move up. If they can pick up extra picks and not fall back too far, they should. Who really knows if Kalil is better than Rieff or Adams. If someone really wants Tannehill, Kalil, or Claiborne they very well may decide to trade up. If the Vikings could drop back a little and still get a blue chip player plus another 2nd rounder they should go for it. We better hope teams fall in love with Tannehill and want to jump ahead of Cleveland picking 4th. It wouldn’t hurt for stories of Cleveland liking Tannehill to hit the internet.

Irritating? Do you know this happens 100’s of times in EVERY war room. You have to keep your options open and weigh every pick. Its not always as simple as it it seems. You may be better watching Sesame Street and be able to relax at night.

Trade down to 8 and let the dolphins take tennehil.
ask for their 2nd and 4th round picks.
There will still be a stud in the board at 8 and you pick up two more picks

I dont think the vikes need kalil….they need receivers that can seperate.
Qbs only need more time when they have receivers that can’t get open.
aaron rodgers doesnt have a kalil caliber lineman.
he has receivers that know how to get free….
    Take Blackmon!!!!!

If the Vikings End up making a deal with the Dolphins, they will swap 3rd pick for the 8th pick in the first round. Then the Vikings should ask for Miami’s 2nd and 3rd pick and not the one the received from the Bears and next years first

if they can get some good stuff for the 3rd pick I say go for it!!!! the Vikings need help in just about every spot & there is only soo much talent in the draft & FA. Lets just hope that they use what they have smart – no wasted picks. Harvin & Peterson – though talented as they are – can not do it all!!!!

Other smart guys we’d like to have in the War Room:

    . Brad Childress
    . Tony Dungy
    . Mike Wobshall
    .Margie from Fargo

Speilman is worse than Matt Millan was in Detroit.
At least Matt was trying something….even if it was wrong.

Yeah lets slap Rick around before he ever has a chance to build the team ~ After all this is his first season with final say on the roster~FA~draft ~

On top of that some after knocking him wants to trust him to trade down to gain extra picks ~ If you believe he is the worse ever how can you trust him to get 1) fair value of the pick ~ ? 2) trust Rick to pick the right guys with the new added picks ~ ?

Staying put and picking the BPA with 10 picks is the best thing this team can do in hopes of landing 2 or 3 players who couple start and play well while adding depth and possible starters down the road with some the other 7 or 8 picks ~

If the coaching staff can get some of the young guys on the roster and some of the rookies to step up and play well this team could be picking in the middle of round one next year ~ If not the Vikings get a whole new coaching staff and another season picking in the top 10 of the draft with hopes the new staff can do the job Frazier and his staff felled to do ~

I really believe the coaching staff will have more to do with the team getting better and how fast they get better than any FA or draft pick for this team this year ~

Right now the more guys you bring into camp the better.
Just because they sign a guy doesnt mean he will make the final roster, but it gives the team options.
At the rate we are signing players there wont be any cuts before the season.
We will need all five or six guys that they have signed just to have a full roster.
That is why i made the statement about matt millan atleast tried things even if those things were wrong.
When you are 3-13 bring in everyone available then cut it down to the best of the lot.

  12. jo says:

I just dont like the rebuilding vibe…..its like saying we give up this year.
Atleast try to be competive……thats all im saying

    Vikes are bluffing..
