Desmond Bishop Update: It’s not a good sign if the Vikings allow him to leave town today !

Look for the Minnesota Vikings to put on a full court press for ex-Packer linebacker Desmond Bishop today. Sources within the loop are saying that the Vikings are “Enamored” with the possibility of adding him to their limited linebacking corps.

Despite their thinly veiled excitment, Leslie Frazier is underrstandably playing it “cool”.  Frazier said that he could not “verify any reports” and that any free agents brought in for workouts are “no reflection on our team.”  Despite these comments, the team is quietly salivating over the gift that has been dropped into their laps and will make every reasonable effort to sign him, given their limited cap space.

Signing a healthy Desmond Bishop would be a significant upgrade over Erin Henderson, who in turn, would go back to the SAM linebacker spot that he is more familiar with.

The bottom line is, if the Vikings fail to get this deal done today then the odds of making this happen at all get alot more remote as Bishop has already scheduled a visit with the Kansas City Chiefs for tomorrow. (The Chiefs are desperate at Middle linebacker and seem ready to “pounce” at the opportunity to land him).

The best guess here is that the team makes an honest effort to bring Bishop aboard. If his motivation in finding a new team is to make a statement to the Packers about making a mistake in releasing him, then inking with Minnesota would be the best way to accomplish that. However, if the real motivation is strictly monatary, then expect the Chiefs to trump any offer the Vikings make.

I was thinking the same exact thing this morning that if he goes to another team’s workout after this then he’s lost. My bigger concern is how good he is after a pretty serious injury that many say requires at least a year to come back from to 100%,if ever.

I think he’s good. The Packers didnt want him at their workouts. He is feeling good. All accounts the workout was “hes a good football player.” Heck that is enough for me sign him and be done with it! Sign him now you weekneck turds who are afraid of stepping on the toes of a guy they allready deemed worthy of the “mike!” Now please? Dont take that stuff personally…all in good fun yeah..

Jared Allen, All-Pro DE who played for both teams acted as a kind of threatening li·ai·son ..just to make sure things did not get “too outta control,” said David Stern, who is more powerful than we can know.
