Love suspended for PED’s.

There are just some people who simply cannot help but shoot themselves in the foot. Such is the case for DeMarcus Love. Love, a 6th round draft choice in 2011 out of Arkansas and has yet to play in a regular season game with the team. The 25-year-old offensive lineman was inactive for all 16 games in 2011 and spent the 2012 season on injured reserve after suffering a pectoral injury.

He is the Poster boy for those who use the term “Potential”. But news from the league office isn’t going to be helpful in his quest for recognition as it was announced that Love has been suspended for the first four games of the 2013 season after violating the NFL policy on performance-enhancing substances, the league announced on Thursday.

According to his agent, Thomas Simms, Love took an over-the-counter sleep aid from GNC that contained a banned compound. His appeal has already been denied.

“DeMarcus takes full responsibility. It was (an) honest (and) unintentional mistake. DeMarcus deeply regrets this unfortunate situation. He looks forward to resuming his playing career with the Vikings organization and contributing to the 2013 football season.”

According to the collective bargaining agreement, Love will still be eligible to play in all preseason games and practice with the team until the preseason is over. Love, 25, will be eligible to return the active roster on Sept. 30, although his chances of making the team under the circumstances seem iffy at best.
