INJURY REPORT

Aug 6, 2013

Jared Allen
During team competition in the afternoon, Jared twisted his ankle but was able to get off the field under his own power. Allen, who head coach Leslie Frazier says rolled his ankle, was seen limping to the locker room with his left ankle wrapped following practice. He may undergo an MRI to get more details.
Harrison Smith
Coach Frazier described it as a twisted knee and sat him out for most of practice. Smith didn’t have a limp like Jared Allen did. Andrew Sendejo went in for Smith at safety.
Erin Henderson
Rested for the entire practice. Henderson says that he still has a little soreness. Audi Cole replaced Henderson with the first team defense.
Desmond Bishop
Still out with a groin injury. He had time with the training staff in the afternoon. Marvin Mitchell took reps with the first team defense.
Xavier Rhodes
Missed his fourth consecutive practice with a hamstring injury. Rhodes reported that he feels good, however. I’m expecting he’ll sit out a few preseason games and play the 3rd and 4th games.  Burton took reps in Rhodes’ place.
Christian Ballard
Groin injuries can’t be fun. Christian is day-to-day and did not practice.
AJ Jefferson
I’m not exactly sure on this one, but reports of his foot giving problems is the word on the street. AJ is also day-to-day and did not practice.

Jared Allen? Harrison Smith? Erin Henderson? Desmond Bishop? Xavier Rhodes? Everything from groin injuries to hammys to twisted knees to rolled ankles? Are you freaking kidding me? All pretty much key players with injuries that ain’t nothin’ to sneeze at. Man, this really sounds as if it does not bode well for the team. Rather alarming to me, actually. I SURELY HOPE THAT THESE INJURIES AREN’T SERIOUS ENOUGH TO KEEP SOME OF OUR FAVORITE AND MOST VITAL PLAYERS FROM JOINING THE TEAM AND ACTUALLY PLAY BEFORE PRE-SEASON ENDS, AND REGULAR SEASON BEGINS! LET’S GO! ALL THE WAY TO THE SUPER BOWL!! SKOL VIKINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

While I don’t share your alarm, I fully agree with your notion that this is a scary list of injured players. I’m hoping they all pull through well and heal up, then stay safe and healthy through the pre-season and on in through the regular season.

I won’t type it in all caps, but I wholeheartedly share your enthusiasm, hope, and excitement for this season. As I’ve coached my daughter into saying any time I mention football: GO VIKINGS!!!
